Who: Portland Timbers v.Houston Dynamo When: Saturday, March 18 @ 9:30 pm CDT Where: Providence Park; Portland, OR Records: Portland Timbers (2-0-0), 1st in West Houston Dynamo (2-0-0), 2nd in West TV: KUBE-57 Radio: ???? This is the third regular season game of the year for both teams. In the 2016 the two teams split, each winning at home. The Dynamo lost in Portland, 3-2, on June 26 before winning at home, 3-1, on September 24. Portland will come to Houston in the return match this year on July 29. The Timbers finished the 2016 season in 7th place in the West with a record of 12-14-8. Last season they went 12-3-2 in home league games. Portland most recently got a road win, 0-1, at the LA Galaxy on Sunday, March 12. That makes them 3-2-0 over the last five league games scoring 8 goals and allowing 6. Their next game is March 25 at Columbus. The Dynamo are now 2-1-2 over the last five league games scoring 6 goals and allowing 4. Houston went 2-9-6 in road games last year. The Dynamo are observing the FIFA break so the next Dynamo game is at home against New York Red Bulls on April 1 and then Houston travels to New England on April 8.

Portland away. If our nation wasn't so incredibly large, this fixture would be an annual road trip to feast on!!! DALE ETERNO BACK TO BACK CAMPEON!!!
a good test vs a team that uses a formation that WC would prefer us to use. they are very similar to what he envisions and are perhaps a glimpse to what we might become. look forward to the match up. a great game to build on if we have the right attitude
The way both teams are playing, I'll go with one of two choices: Portland 6 - 12 Dynamo Portland 16 - 0 Dynamo There is no in-between.
I like that attitude. Seriously, that is what makes Top flight football great. Every match is a must win.
usually only bc if you dont beat up the filler teams your competition will and you can miss out on a title or international spot. here not so much.
Yeah, I don't buy that since an Europa League play-in isn't on the line then it doesn't matter. Remember that MLS Cup we could've hosted instead of having to play it in LA? Every point counts, everything second of play counts. That's what I learned from El Flaco Menotti.
Portland is no push over and this will be tough game. I am interested see how our attacking power matches up against there's. Their first game against Minnesota was not super impressive based on Atlanta dropping 6 on them the next game. Still Portland is good and us beating them will put us in better eyes of those that think we aren't serious.
Timbers' Liam Ridgewell out, David Guzman (separated shoulder) & Vytas questionable for game vs. Houston #RCTID #MLS https://t.co/uREsw5U2mL— Jamie Goldberg (@Jamiebgoldberg) March 14, 2017
Weather forecast for Portland on Saturday night: 7:00 pm - 47F, 65% humidity, partly cloudy, 16% chance of rain Through the game the temps will fall a bit but the rain chances go away completely. They are supposed to get rain in the morning that day so the evening forecast could change.

That was one thing I couldn't stand about recent years. I'd never uttered the words, we'll make it hard for the other team, in my life. Even when I played for lousy men's or co-ed teams, it was like, suggest strategy mindful of the opponent, play my a$$ off, and what happens happens.
Last year this was the 3-2 tale of two halves away game. So you need a game plan to get to the final whistle with them. 5-1 over MN is flattering. MN elevated too many minor leaguers and could, depending what happens over the course of the season, be one of the worst MLS teams ever. I don't know if that plus 1-0 over down-ebb LAG (post Keane, post Arena) is the same as what we did to Seattle and Columbus.
Im glad we have a coach that keeps practices loose, but no too loose. I feel a 'chilena' goal coming.
