Thank you. You can't immagine how I fought in the past years ( since 2007... ) to explain that a club called NYCFC and establishe in NYC surely would have been a great success. Everyone said me that it was impossible to have another club in NYC metro area and that maybe only the Cosmos could have success........... These stupid persons said that a soccer team in NYC can't have more than 15k average attendance and that I can't realize that why I never been in NYC............And how many bla bla bla about the baseball stadium. Instead in a baseball stadium and in a terrible season the average attendance has been 29k. P.S. And how many stupid persons said me that MLS could haven't more than 16 teams......
I've been looking for NYCFC's original target attendances. I seem to remember that CMG were optimistic about averaging 20,000. I'm optimistic about an average of 32-33k in 2016.
I had those sentiments and only decided to go to a match because I live less than a mile from the Stadium. Initially I sat with the away fans. It took 5 or 6 games to win me over, probably out of sympathy. I now possess 2 season tickets and a new away shirt but I draw the line at wearing Man City colors.
Hopefully the next home jersey is more unique looking then the current one. I'm not a fan of the new secondary jersey design but I do love the colors and I think those colors (Navy and Orange) should be the primary colors while the city blue should be an accent color at best.
With what pray tell? The next home jersey design or my opinions on the new secondary? I actually love the orange numbers but just can't get over the wave patterns on the front.
I'd like to think that CFG can see the writing on the wall with regards to jerseys. The away last year sold out and the new secondary is on its way to do the same (even with the mixed reviews) the home though is not even close with regards to sales and its largely due to the lack of imagination of colors and design if you will. If they made one that wasn't a blatant copy of Man City they'd have a best seller on their hands!
I think if they just left out the "waves" coming out of the badge it would have been a whole lot nicer. I really like the color scheme, so much so that I'm probably getting the track jacket with the same color scheme.
Let's adopt the right terminology. "Match", "pitch", "away kit", "nil", "reserves", linesman", "squad" etc Screw the establishment!
Never liked the sky blue very much either. But that probably has more to do with Lazio having the same colors than Man City.
======= NYFC have been a pleasant surprise attendance wise despite playing in a baseball stadium. Now picture a stadium like RBA (which the Bulls still don't fill very well), plopped down in Brooklyn or Queens. NYFC would fill it standing room only every game based on their current average. Sooooo, maybe when NYFC finally finds a place to build, they will need to reconsider the size of the stadium. They are the team in NYC (sorry Cosmos) and will have to build something special.
Before Red Bull Stadium was built Red Bulls fans (on these forums) that 27,000 seats wasn't big enough. There are 22,000 New York City founding members. Given the large number of tickets posted on Ticketmaster by season ticket holders, and my guessitimates that announced attendances are 4 or 5,000 than announced, I think 25,000 (expandable) would be enough. If it's built in Long Island City a view of Manhattan would be nice.
I'd go with 35K (expandable) to start. I think you'll get around 30K for most games and you'll sell out for NYC derby games. The size also makes it an attractive venue for WCQ and Gold Cup games (group stages) as well as international club friendlies.
I would be surprised if it's not in the 30-35k range. Only way the go less than that is if space is a big issue wherever they build it.
