I don't get the NYCFC hate - they are a crap team that plays on a postage stamp. I pity the fool.

I loathe everything about them. That they are a farm team for an English corporation makes me despise them existentially. It's like Chivas USA without the funny sombreros. Their stadium is a disgrace. Their fans are terrible, among the worst in the league. Their habit of playing mediocre players that their parent club cant find a better home for is distasteful. And I can't stand that they make the playoffs every year above more deserving teams because of their tiny ass field.

That stadium does still remain the place I've heard the most rednecky stuff in MLS. I've often felt Ohio may be the most redneck state I've ever visited (and I grew up in SC, so that's saying something).
But for the most part Crew fans themselves have been good to me on road trips to see United. My fight, weird comments in the stadium during USA games, and the one time that dude pulled a gun on Chico in the paring lot notwithstanding

I remember one tailgate where the crew guys invited the SEs (can't remember if US or DC game) where most everything there was deep fried in those big turkey fryers. They had a bunch of them. It was a glorious greasy feast.

Back in the late 90s, when I used to make banners, I took one to Columbus, and about four hoodlum wannabies tore it down pre-game. Security tried to blame me, but there was one stand-up guy, and older guy, that came down and said that the Crew guys started it. Security gave me another place to sit on the other side of the field, which was perfectly fine. Thank God I didn't tell them where I went to college......
