... who apparently checked into the comments of a post in Joe Gallardo's Instagram feed yesterday to ... rip on him for his performance with the U17s against Nigeria in 2015. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs_sJCulevQ/ Or maybe don't tell me. Anyway, internet, you do you.
I did not do this, but damn this response from Joe: "thanks for the support. We didn’t play well over all as a team that day. Plus Nigeria cheated they had grown men on there team." That's uhh not a good response
The next year, Nigeria had to send half of their team home due to being overage. The director of their FA copped to playing overage players. He's not wrong. It's like how North Korea mysteriously dominates women's youth soccer competitions but is garbage against adults. The spelling is a different issue.
Not gonna lie, I'm a little bummed that Joe Gallardo is now at the level of "just having fun playing indoor soccer"... kid looked promising once. Good for him for loving the game and enjoying himself, though. Hashtag enjoylife @azim__usmanov .... is that a valid username here?
January 1 birthday + broken leg. I will say, USL League One feels like it's tailor-made for guys like Gallardo who have found themselves falling out of the pro game.
I have no clue what USL League One salaries are like, but at a certain point wouldn't you be better off just giving up and getting another job? I guess Gallardo is 21 so still has a potential future in soccer, and he didn't go to college, so he's a pretty good candidate. The vast majority of elite American youth players are better off going to college for 4 years for free and then working in something other than sports. The rate of DA players to pros has to be pretty low. It's a weird "problem" for the USA that our young talent gets well rounded education and doesn't need to grind their way up if they don't want to.
Yeah, pretty surprised to see the resurrected Dallas Sidekicks bragging on him coming as an opposing player in the indoor league.
Sure, even at the D2 level there are tons of guys who walk away from the sport in their mid-20s because they've realized that MLS isn't going to happen for them and they'd rather fall back on their degree. But for those who want to keep the dream alive, USL League One is a new opportunity.
What I need to keep my dream alive is a professional Masters league, like the senior circuit in golf.
Don't forget Dwayne De Rosario of the Mississauga MetroStars! I had to look him up... 7 goals 7 assists in 8 games https://www.mississaugametrostars.ca/stats#/192/team/32599/stats Waitaminute... 99 FW Jonathan Osorio Is that THE Jonathan Osioro, moonlighting in the MASL? I wonder how Ali Curtis and Greg Vanney feel about that, didn't they just sign him to a big contract? Isn't that similar to what first got Danilo Acosta in Petke's doghouse? Although that doesn't link to Osorio's page, also on the roster: 11 MF Anthony Osorio
https://www.mississaugametrostars.ca/stats#/player/208793/bio The Jonathan Osorio page on their roster has a different picture and DOB. So it's a different guy, or a massive conspiracy.
James Riley plays for the Tacoma Stars Oh, I loved playing indoor out of highschool for a good 3 years straight basically. Just fun and didn't take it too seriously. Lots of good memories. I wouldn't bag on anyone who gets to do that professionally at any age.
