Goodsport posted this link seeking assistance to retrieve his repossessed car under Random Jibberish. I'm starting a new thread to give it more prominence. If everyone helps by giving what they can we easily do this. Thanks. https://www.gofundme.com/help-unemployed-retrieve-car
Thanks, Don. Goodsport has been one of the most devoted supporters of the team, and I am glad he was able to reach out and ask for support from our fan family. Please help him if you can.
I met Goodsie at a couple of the city hall meetings when Wolff was trying to get his stadium plans pushed through. He was there representing during the club's bleakest time. Let's help this great Quakes fan.
Goodsport was the first to suggest that the new Quakes stadium be called "The Epicenter". In November 2006 SSV prepared a Visitors Projection Report to give to city and civic leaders to lobby for a new stadium. I used "The Epicenter" as the title for the report in line with Goodsport's suggestion. When Avaya was being planned I tried to get the Quakes to use that moniker for the new stadium, but the Quakes said no. They would use it for the area behind the scoreboard but not for the entire stadium - they would use a sponsor's name for the whole place instead.
Just checked the progress. At $2,300 toward the $3,100 target. Kudos to the San Jose Earthquakes for donating!!
How long do we have to raise this money? I mean, is there a time limit? Does the amount go up if he doesn't pay soon enough?
Thank you all for your help thus far! I technically have until mid-February and from what I'd been told, the amount will remain the same until then. Still, I definitely would prefer to retrieve my car sooner rather than later. The rising cost of waiting longer comes in having to pay for Uber and/or Lyft every time I need to go do grocery shopping, pick up my parents' medication at the pharmacy, etc, especially with having little money to begin with. I can absolutely confirm that while I'm grateful that such ride services are available, using them is unquestionably more expensive than driving your own car, even with the price of gas being what it is. (Getting a ride from neighbors is tougher than one would think, particularly with their own busy family schedules) I hope that helped. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
There do not appear to have been any donations to the Goodsport cause in the last three days, and we need another 500 bucks, so I would like to broaden a proposal I made over on the Minnesota United board that received no takers. I have a pair of front row tickets (approximately 30-yard line in pointy ball parlance, opposite player benches), and VIP parking pass, to the Quakes v. Loons season opener at Avaya Stadium on March 3. Value $300. These are great seats, and you will be so close to the action you can place your beer atop the field level electronic ad boards. Will give them up in exchange for $200 donation to the cause. PM me if interested. If there are other games on the Quakes 2018 schedule that may interest you for visiting the luxury moat, I'm willing to make the same offer, assuming the game is not already spoken for. Most are still available. Also, if you would like to make a $100 donation in consideration for a single seat in the moat as my guest (I won't bite), same deal. Send me a PM. Let's get Goodsport his car back!
This is incredible! Thank you all once again! It'll still likely be a few days until I can retrieve my car due to the procedure I now need to go through, some points of that procedure not being open on the weekend (including the place holding my car), the slight delay in getting paid by GoFundMe, and making up the GoFundMe fee. Nonetheless, a big thanks to all of you from my parents and I! GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
The GoFundMe page stated they don't take a fee, that they make money by donations, so I also gave them one. I suppose the fee would be through their payment processor. If you don't mind me asking, how much is it?
Oops, you're right. I should've made that more clear. GoFundMe does indeed charge 0% for personal campaigns started in U.S. dollars (although it does charge something for Certified Charity campaigns). It's the processing fee that's 2.9% + $0.30 per donation. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
And they are still profiting on the 2.9% (though not as much as they used to profit on the 5%). Thanks to all who helped reach the goal. Goodsie, if you need any more help, let us know, and also post a photo when you and your wheels are reunited. (Unstickying for now)
