Weather forecast for Portland on Sunday. 5:00 pm PDT: 47F 72% humidity wind 4 mph SW Mostly Cloudy 24% chance of rain Portland will have showers overnight and early in the morning on Sunday. Those should be pretty much gone by game time and then chances continue to decline during the game. If the forecast stays like this. The showers could always hang around.
The West is subpar this year - both in terms of records, points, and any objective observation of game play. This is just like the 2011 Eastern Conference the Dynamo won - no one much over 50 points and a relatively low gap between teams. Just look at the playoffs thus far - outside of Vancouver blowing out a -20 goal differential San Jose squad in the knockout round, in the other 3 West playoff games you have a total of 3 goals scored.
Glad to see some of the Dynamo sponsors really rallying behind the squad LOL http://mobile.twitter.com/76/status/926506980742643712
There's over twenty-five of the 76 Stations on Portland. This is just marketing in their local area. Some corporations market, and sponsor to rival fan bases.
I'm really liking this midfield Houston DynamoVerified account @HoustonDynamo Tonight's Dynamo Starting XI: Willis; Anibaba, Machado, Senderos ©, Remick; Alexander, Martínez, Cabezas; Elis, Torres, Alex #PORvHOU
They sponsor 3 or 4 MLS teams IIRC, but you’d think they’d at least research their sponsorship agreements to see if they tick off another team they sponsor. Then again they might’ve seen the two completely empty sections in front of the big orange 76 ball at the last playoff game and decided it didn’t matter if they support the Dynamo or not because the Houston fan base doesn’t care
These dumb bastards did it. The way they played the last couple of weeks they weren’t even supposed to make the playoffs, but here we are.
Dude, get over the physicality, that was a nightsticks at 2 paces kind of game, uglyball, in part won because we were as tough as them and knocked in enough goals to win. I want my players as tough as Ridgewell to beat Ridgewell. I mean seriously waaaaah Torres is scrapping with nasty Portland getting them cards I mean seriously waaaah Elis is chasing Portland around where the defenders can't relax You want low fouls and pretty soccer double the payroll.
Good deal. Seattle is a better defense than Portland so we need a better first leg next time. Come up with your Joevin Jones plan.
That was a professional performance by the Dynamo. They were the better team despite playing on a lousy pitch for both legs.
3 points! What do we get? ... Another mid-week playoff game (such a bad playoff schedule). Let's go boys!
yes!!!!! if you would have told me a year ago we would be in this position i would have said some really not nice things to you. what a job WC and Jordan have done getting, then coaching these players to a conference final after finishing LAST the year before. Incredible our midfield really did a number on theirs for two games in a row. outstanding Elis is a dirty SOB and i hate that he is on my team Torres is a poacher only and we either need to find a way to get service on the ground to him near the penalty spot or start some one else Manotas is a great sub and i would start him instead of Torres except he gets lost for too many minutes too often. thus the conundrum. thus why i think WC is so good at his job great victory boys, lets do it again!! PS suck it you hipster, entitled cry babies!!
Portland gets a goal because of a poor field / slip by our defender. Credit Wilmer for getting this team to play as a cohesive unit and managing them for depth and peak performance. Everybody gave it their all!
I hate watching games on turf... changes the dynamics of the game significantly and the Dynamo have always struggled mightily on turf.... hopefully our pitch is in better shape in a couple weeks.
The playoff schedule is bad, really bad. What most don’t understand is that it is a product of going with ESPN and Fox in the last Tv deal which left MLS having to take poor midweek time slots. Anyone notice that when the TV deal was split between NBC/NBCSN and ESPN the Dynamo had quite a few weekend home playoff games?
that was one power kick from Manotas....maybe with the help of the hard turf...yes we are ready for Seattle...and I agreed Seattle has better defense than Portland...but we have faster forwards than Seattle LOL.... it going to be interesting ...
