This is the second game of the Western Conference semifinals. Since the first game was a draw if either team wins this game they would advance. If the Dynamo can score and get a tie then Houston would advance on away goals. If there is another scoreless tie then overtime and potentially penalties would be played after the 2nd leg. Away goals do not apply in overtime. The Dynamo and Portland played twice this year in league action. Portland won at home, 4-2, in March and the teams drew in Houston, 2-2, in July. Houston has only won once in Portland all time. That was the first visit back in 2011. The Timbers are 3-1-1 in their last five league games (including the playoffs) scoring 10 goals and allowing 3. This year Portland was 11-2-4 in home league games. Their overall playoff record is now 5-2-4. The Dynamo are now 3-0-2 over the last five MLS games (including the playoffs) scoring 6 goals and allowing only 1. The current undefeated streak is at 8 games in MLS play. The winner of this two-game series will advance to play in the Western Conference final round against either Seattle or Vancouver. Those games will be November 21 and 30.

There’s no probable cause affidavit posted yet, just the charges. Who knows what’s behind it but you’d think of someone falsely accused you and caused you a problem you’d not be in that situation again. Interestingly, how did our crack reporting staff miss the original incident in Dec 2015? It’s easy to find on a search for Deric’s name in Harris County records. Just another thing Portland fans can be indignant about

It a damn shame Deric will not be in the lineup....I also hear from the Portland coach that due to injury - 2 or 3 of their starter might not start on Sunday. But playing on turf...man..that is bad for our boys. In a way I am not sure what is worst the Portland Turf or BBVA stadium turf....it look bad on Monday night.

It really has nothing to do with due process or innocent until proven guilty. Quite a while ago Texas passed legislation that gives LEO's no leeway in determining whether or not a crime has been committed if it is Domestic Violence. There must be an arrest and the DA really has no option but to charge regardless of whether or not the complainant has retracted allegations previously - all of that is something for a jury to decide. The complainant might very well do the same thing and retract prior to trial, or the defense might be given the opportunity to present evidence of prior retraction to a grand jury. MLS did not have to suspend - so really the beef is with them. I hope that Joe can step up because Tyler has been a Rock since he got back starting.
There's no probable cause affidavit filed because this charge is based on an information. Same thing as PC from an LEO except the allegations are presented to an ADA who then files the information stating the charges. PC hearing will happen in the future when the State has to put on the evidence to support the charge - or they could go directly to Grand Jury and the DA would just state the charge. It might have been done this way due to the previous case where the same individual retracted the allegations.
