Don't rule out NYRB they are @ 41 points and playing like shit, 2-1-5 in their last 8 games. Remaining schedule for NYRB is @ Portland (L), vs. Philadelphia (T), vs. DC United (T) and @ Montreal (T). Something like this would have to happen, along with us winning out, NYRB would finsh 44pts and we would finish with 46pts. At least 7th possibly 6th depending on how New England finish.

If we drop ANY points (meaning we need to win out), we are NOT making the playoffs.

Results going our way allow a better than 50% chance, even if we tie one of the three last games.

If we drop any points we will not make the playoffs, so we need to win out and that still doesn't guarantee us making the playoffs.

NYRB beat Portland tonight, so looks like the only team we have a chance of passing New England.

According to fivethirtyeight, the Fire have a greater chance of making the playoffs than the Cubs do (22% versus 21%). I know that doesn't mean much, but I am still surprised by that. Not being a Cub fan, I am glad their playoff chances are lower than ours, even if it is one stinkin percentage point.

    Go Fire!

Wasted opportunity against the worst team in the league.

FC Cincinnati has 22 points, 4 of them against the Fire.

Three points behind New England, who have a game in hand.
    One point behind Orlando.

For the Fire to overtake the Fire:

    1) The Fire win and draw, New England loses all three remaining games. Orlando wins and loses.

    2) The Fire win out and New England loses two of three. Orlando wins one and does not win the other

    Not likely.

The Revs are at Portland, home to NYCFC, and at Atlanta. So it is certainly possible that they could lose all three. Orlando goes to Cincy before they host us. The game at Orlando could be a "winner goes to the playoffs, loser goes home" scenario.

    Well, playoff calculus is easy.

If NE losses both, Fire needs 4pts.

If NE get one or two ties...Fire must win 2.

    NE wins one...Fire is eliminated.

    NE vs NYC
    NE @ATL

We could win and tie and still make the playoffs, but we would need a lot of help.

1.New England would have lose their two games
2.Montreal can't win both of their two games

2 out of the last 10 years, we've made the playoffs (well kind of, both times were play in games).

Why were all these MLS teams playing games on this weekend?

I thought the Fire's season had finished. Did we miss something?
