Mark Geiger is awful. Only Kevin Stott is worse

When were diving boards installed at BBVA? Did SKC bring their own?

Aside from the ref, both teams are playing horrible. The number of unforced turnovers is embarrassing considering this is supposed to be a playoff game. Players are making dumb choices.

Feels like a backline mistake, not a creative offensive play will decide it

Not sure what SKC was doing. Gave Ellis all day to pick a spot.

Dynamo should have this put away.

And our field condition is terrible

Glenn Davis needs to back it down a bit hyping this victory. A brutal match and Dynamo have either limited or zero defensive depth left. A playoff victory is great, but this was a mess of a game

SKC absolutely tanked the last month of the season

Oh shut up seriously. First time in the playoffs in years, and a W to boot, and the empty seats seem more important to some people.

Fitting that ends on a clunker PK that even Dykstra can save.

A lot of odd selection choices but that was basically won by team defense.

Credit to Sanchez for some smart plays, I gave him crap all season.

The question will be what we can field Monday and with what gas in the tank.

    9 innings + 11 innings + 120 minutes. And it's gonna be a continued string of these.

Surely the MBAs harping on crowd numbers understand that economically any regular season shortfall is going to be significantly offset by at least two rounds of playoff soccer, even if each individual match is subpar attendance. I have made this argument before in the context of arguing even moderately increased payroll would be offset and perhaps rendered profitable by a winning team playing more contests.

I loved that game. Good old hou v skc slugfest. Both teams clogging up play wrestling in MF with pressure. Game like that will always look ugly and teams will look like they are playing poorly but i think it is how football should be played. No one had space or time or your going down. Geiger tried to ruin game flashing cards around. Dynamo deserved the victory.

I was wrong about this team. I never saw what I think it takes to succeed in Fall MLS soccer -- until the fall. I still am uncomfortable with defending with 7, but Cabrera is showing me it can succeed. My hat is off.

No, I'm not saying Dynamo are cup favorites. But they have heart and a plan and have a chance. My trip to Pdx is booked. I'd love to be there for a great upset like that NYRB year or both SKC years.

I've not missed a playoff game yet why start now.

by Gawd that was a slobberknocker!!

i would've hated watching that game as a neutral, but I'm not, so I'm glad we won a slugfest against north oklahoma.

any one else notice Opara playing forward last moments of game? not sure i've seen that switch before. that dude was there mvp hands down and clearly stud. hats off to him

    in other news...
i lost a TON of respect for Ellis last night. dirty dirty dirty. punching ribs, raking achilles, shoving players. not acceptable and i am calling it out. no player, including our own, should stoop to those antics and I'm embarrassed that a player wearing orange acts like a player wearing hoops. Ellis--stop. now.

It was sheer madness in the hinchada last night! I mean with the cooler temps and the combative game on display, it was just a throwback night n vibe where the fun was had by all! We all knew it was gonna be one of those nights that our players needed their people in the stands to keep them pushing on towards some match winner. Which of course our guys did there in overtime! Good on the 14,000+ that did come out and have a shout for the Naranja!

    DALE DYNAMO!!! BRING ON PORTLAND!!!

I hold tremendously high standards for the players I coach and would like to think a Texas professional club would be a representative of tough, rugged soccer players being gentlemen in the tackle and hustle.as well. I must have missed the cleanliness of a Peter Vermes side playing playoff soccer like anything that deserves fair play treatment Seven.

Does he normally play like that or was it the SKC effect? Since Geiger was inconsistent on what was card worthy there was some tough play on both sides.

    Geiger was inconsistently inconsistent!!!

Again, all the lip service from new owners out in L.A. or even from Blank in Atlanta (better luck next year Atlanta HAHA!) or even from MLS HQ in New York, when they all talk of MLS being a "top league in the world" in 3 or 5 years, it is comical to speak like this when MLS refs like Geiger are allowed to ref a playoff game like he poorly did last night. I mean no ref has ever been perfect but if a ref is poor, just be consistent in your lack of calls, looking to swallow your whistle more times than not and let the a combative playoff game breath.

i would expect Elis to be suspended for monday after video review. he tried to physically injure players in at least 4 separate instances that i saw. one a blatant forearm attempt to Zusi's face.

that said, im not sure why WC didnt make offenses adjustments earlier when it was clear the original 11 were not going to make an impact

Last attendance thought - I see from the pics below the Dynamo attempted the "sell all the tickets in the corners on the opposite side from the TV camera" strategy to make or look like a bigger crowd. Not sure how they got 14k announced attendance out of that one. I know it will be compared to the Montreal Halloween game in 2013 and look favorable.
