I received the usual "Match Reminder" e-mail with a note in red, obviously added quite recently, saying "Play on the Pitch has been cancelled because of weather concerns." I directs one to call the DCU number for more information. Naturally, there is no new information to be had on that number, just the standard recording about our next match being Saturday.
Maybe they are afraid that the Union won't be able to make it in time because of the trucker protest.
I'm pretty sure "Play on the Pitch" is some event DC United puts on. I don't care enough to look it up.
That's my understanding as well. It's an opportunity for local youth teams to play on the RFK pitch several hours before match time. It has nothing to do with the match itself. MODS: please fix the subject line.
Thanks. That would explain the capitalization of both "Play" and "Pitch". Sorry to alarm anyone. We can invite the Beltway truckers to fill the seats vacated by those who reacted to my panicked thread start. But I don't know who we could invite to fill the seats vacated by fans turned off by this season's play.
Mods: I'm with Bootsie. Either fix the subject line or make it go away entirely, please. I'm sure Song and Bootsie's explanation is correct, and I overreacted.
And I bet the groundskeeper will deploy his spray truck before the match to make sure the surface is soft.
