Ok so I was bored and decided why not post pictures from the match against skyblue on 7/24/10. The think is I usually only take pictures pre and post game and there are barely any in-game shots. So here we go... Team mascot sitting under Coach Riley

After been out this weekend and missing what appears to be a great game on sunday, I'm BACK. OK, LeBlanc has another installment of the KK Kam, Ep. 6. http://www.womensprosoccer.com/philadelphia/video/index?pid=UI8RhP30in2_yJ1Cuk__hJqDCuCCBFpP - No wonder Mitts is hurt a lot. I can't believe LeBlanc was twisting her leg like that. - It seems the CheeseSteak name is getting some traction as Karina referred to the team several times as the CheeseSteaks. So if we are to get a supporters group, would it be called the "Cheesesteak Factory"?
OUCH that is a bad as DOB, the Supporter group had it first signups this weekend and a few announcements were made during the game to join us
I missed those announcements, probably due to singing. Any info on the supporters' group? Also, how'd the nickname come about? We weren't sure if it was an insult or an actual nickname, so we all felt a bit odd singing "Cheesesteaks" as our two-syllable replacement for "Union" last night.
People just started calling them the Cheesesteaks then the players took to it... I know the players loved it, you all were great, we aspire to that kind of effort... right now we are scatterred across the stadium and do the best we can See KK Cam she refferrs to them as the Cheesesteaks several times http://www.womensprosoccer.com/philadelphia/video/index?pid=UI8RhP30in2_yJ1Cuk__hJqDCuCCBFpP We are going to have signups again at the next game, I will post more info when available, it is in the first phase and we will be getting ready for next season you can email me your name address email and phone number and I will get it into the database we are getting together gmbarry@msn.com
Word, I'll send it on over. As for the actual thread purpose, I'm not Dan, but I always lurk his photostream. He goes to all the SOB events and takes awesome photos. Some from that night uploaded: http://www.flickr.com/photos/32680856@N05/
Val's latest http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/1698/womens-soccer/2010/08/14/2070909/vals-wps-foot-notes-take-a-seat Sounds like fun. Good thing no one was injured
You beat me to this . So we now know when they're are palying like crap to call them the cheesecakes.
I like her. Very pleasant demeanor in her writing, and she knows the full extent of her job. The game itself, but also the practices, and the PR, which can be fun at times, but odd at times.
http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/soccer/20110617_Sanderson__Independence_seek_a_measure_of_revenge.html This game preview article was actually on the sports page today. Hope the attention boosts attendance some. The Independence have gone 3-1-2 in their last 6 games and are entering a critical 4-game homestand.
Michael Long has done a great job covering the Independence this season for the phillysoccerpage.net blog. Click on the link to see his photo galleries. http://www.phillysoccerpage.net/author/michael-long/
https://www.bigsoccer.com/soccer/dan-loney/2011/08/30/saviors-of-the-universe This hypocritical author's reluctant-to-cover-your-game-just-be-happy-I-did-it blog is about Tasha Kai's "appearance" in the finals, and doesn't even mention Harris' brilliant walk-off save, or even that the game went to PK's, I don't believe, nor that there were 10,000 plus there. See my comments at the bottom. I'll bet the author doesn't like hearing such derogatory coverage, or poor coverage by the media of the game in general, but it's somehow justifiable when he does this, leaving out crucial details as he spouts on what he thinks are the annoyances with WPS among the soccer elite. And here's a great WPS finals photo blog, which I give a lot more credit to: http://www.phillysoccerpage.net/2011/08/30/wps-final-in-photos-philadelphia-falls-to-wny-flash/
Nice. I was wrong, thinking the Cheese Steaks would get wrecked. It looks like they should have won the game if A-Rod had been on. Tribute. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBYxIElug8M"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBYxIElug8M[/ame]
Thanks for the props, newsouth. It sure was a quality game (I had predicted a low scoring, one goal diff. result but even I was impressed by the outstanding defense) and game really could have gone either way. Beautiful game.
