I think part of that was the tough time working with Nogs in midfield and then playing out of position at CB. I don't think he was bad but you do expect more from a DP.
God, we were so naive back then... "Depending on who you talk to, though, there are different perspectives on what’s been happening behind the scenes during the Edu negotiations. According to one source with knowledge of the talks, the MLS league office on Tuesday blocked a deal in which Philadelphia had agreed to pay Edu around $1.2 million a year after a free transfer from Stoke" http://www.si.com/soccer/planet-fut...iations-for-maurice-edu-but-confusion-lingers If only Don had overruled Sak..we could have had a different DM miss a crucial PK
no. he used some of his time to wear a suit vest and bang on a drum in the river end (for one open cup game)
The entire history of this team is of wasting/misusing their resources. To add a few more names: Kleberson, Ruiz, Anderson, plus all those 2012 retreads Nowak bought in just before getting canned. I don't think Edu is the most egregious by a long way. We can blame Sak for most of them, Earnie's picks still have to prove their worth for the most part.
Tell me lies Tell me sweet little lies I'll agree with the last name, but not the first two. Ruiz had a reputation when he came here. Maybe wasn't the same Carlos Ruiz as he was during his FCD days, but the guy scored some decent goals. And Kleberson? We needed to take him in the deal with get rid of Adu. I think that was worth it.
Not questioning how he was acquired, it was not using him once he was here that was wasteful. Until that one time he played and this happened.
Man, I still can't figure out why exactly Hackworth refused to play him...................that was a waste. Freddy Adu was a total waste as well. Carlos Ruiz was rounding into form when King Piotr decided to sell him in order to do something, what exactly no one knows.
First, it was THE best Union goal of all time. Second, this vid makes me really miss Twellman as the color guy. He was really good that year.
At the time there was a lot of speculation Sak was telling Hak not to play him so they wouldn't look bad when they didn't keep him. Considering he ended up in NASL the next year, probably not true. In hindsight, he would probably have had a similar run as Chaco as a best case scenario.
I know how much you guys like fan fiction. http://www.phillysoccerpage.net/2017/03/15/what-is-this-fan-council-thing/
@Boyertown2003 clearly thinking about all of us: and yea, maybe the Union do suck, but it's Philadelphia's team, the local team, and that's what's important— Kevin Kinkead (@Kevin_Kinkead) March 24, 2017 and that's why Philadelphians pay for season tickets to watch a crappy product, because they aren't bandwagon jumping frontrunners— Kevin Kinkead (@Kevin_Kinkead) March 24, 2017
Can you even imagine who someone could frontrun (frontrunnering?) for in The MLS? Could you Dallas Cowboys your way into wearing a Landon Galaxy shirt? NYC Pirlo? I guess? Not as some FIFA17 teenager, but as an adult? I guess if there's cosplay there's room for anything.
