The guy should not be driving, if he can't avoid accidents on the field can you imagine him on the road? Talk a bout a public safety hazard. He should only be allowed to walk and when goes out hes rolling like this:
are those cricket shin pads? anyway, no word of a lie i actually forgot we had him on our books until i saw someone took the swiffer out for this thread. he is actually fighting for his career (what path it takes) at this point
Why Phil Jones could be key for Jose Mourinho at Manchester United http://www.skysports.com/football/n...be-key-for-jose-mourinho-at-manchester-united
I liked him since his return, if he stays fit he should start with Bailly. The only question is can either of them play the left sided center back position. Smalling for me at this point needs to be sold and we can recoup that 10 mil now. Rojo can also be sold, we can purchase a Lindelof and promote Tuanzebe. But I can definitely see Jones starting going forward IF he keeps it up.
Rojo > Lindelof. We were never interested in Lindelof, Benefica just tried to push him on us. He's not that good, Axel is probably at his level or better. CB should be way down on our priority list this summer. There are other positions we should look at strengthening first and we should aim for players better than Lindleof.
Lindelof, apart from the fact that he's a Swede, reminds me of Patrik Andersson. Still ridiculously young for a CB and in the right environment, he could be poised to be even better. What he offers that most CBs we currently have at the club do not, is being able to confidently play the ball from the back and being very comfortable with the ball at his feet. That does not trump the ability to defend (which is the most important facet of a defensive player, especially at CB), which he has both the temperament and ability for. The pressing need for a CB has only been delayed by Rojo and Jones's play. And for all our CBs (barring Bailly), the rest of the season are very much on "trial" by Jose in a way to see how they measure up, not just in terms of ability, but durability as well. Very confident that we will be in the market for a new CB and since the very top ones, like Laporte or Koulibaly don't appear to be on the club's radar, Lindelof is very much a possibility. Still think that Smalling at least may be the one who ends up making way and he'd fetch a nice sum (especially if sold in the league). Jones and Rojo would be top alternatives to have and we know that over the course of a season, they'd see plenty of action anyhow.
It's wedding season and another guy got itched today. Congrats Phil Jones. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/showbiz-news/england-star-phil-jones-marries-13200122 Would have been hilarious if there was a pic of him making one of his faces before the ceremony or right before saying "I do"...
No plans to sell Jones this summer apparently. www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/3150976/manchester-united-have-no-plans-to-sell-defender-phil-jones-sources Not surprising as Smalling looks to be the guy who will make way. Jones should be fine as an alternative to Bailly or Lindelof, along with Rojo.
Indeed. That's actually a pretty decent quintet of CBs. Very impressed with Axel as well. But of course there's also Fosu-Mensah. Fingers crossed he gets extended playing time, somewhere, this season.
Honest believes this years' preseason will have the team fully ready for the coming season. www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/manchester-united-news-phil-jones-13269416 Nothing like smooth running trip to the US indeed (as opposed to last year's shitshow in China).
Injury-free Phil Jones back on form to impress cautious José Mourinho https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/aug/27/phil-jones-jose-mourinho-manchester-united
I don't think the Jones injury is actually real. I think Jose is trying to protect the squad and his players. We always seem to lose players to injury during international break.
Agreed. With Jones is outstanding form, Jose won't want to see him do down on useless England duty, especially to Malta and Slovenia.
And he's been declared fit for England Man United's Jones passed fit for England https://t.co/DGFR47n1ki— Mark Ogden (@MarkOgden_) August 28, 2017
