And I appreciate you pointing out the reference, thanks. Yea this united side worries me too. They just beat Spurs and while DeGea had a throw back performance it wasn’t a Mou type of win where they score early and sit and defend. They went after it. Rashford is looking extremely good. And Pogba is back to his world class form. We’re gonna be in a battle for top 4 and with our injuries and lack of a legit goal scorer I’m even more concerned.
united were fairly lucky to not be punished for keeping their wide forwards fairly high up, they are taking risks in this new style. just so happens it worked today. the interesting thing was to have Lingard play as the 9 and drop to mark the base of spurs's diamond. clever and it paid off, however, they were holding on just barely in the second half. that all being said, a united team that is actually using and getting something out of the talent they have is a very dangerous team no matter what. they may stumble again at times but i think they will push the top 4. we really haven't learned all that much still. to Nice's point, we've seen them play a lot of bad competition and perform very well as you would assume that talent can do. we've now seen them play spurs and come out with a win, and i think you could debate how good the performance was. they were certainly "up for it" but tactically, spurs were all over them and couldn't get past an extremely good keeper. it makes it hard to know exactly where they're at. i think we can all agree though that a united team that's "up for it" is a level of magnitude more dangerous that what jose was doing prior. but we knew that before when united would get down in a game and come roaring back, now they have the freedom to play that way from the off.
Very well said. If there was ever a moment that I was nervous about United it's now. They have the belief and that's a powerful thing going into the second half of the season
Kane is out until March (to return to training). He's missed 20-45 days in each of the past 3 seasons due to ankle ligament issues.
Was just about to post this - https://www.skysports.com/football/...-harry-kane-out-until-march-with-ankle-injury Sucks for him to be honest.
Arsenal's head of recruitment (formerly of Dortmund) is leaving a little over a year after arriving. This is an interesting little story. If he wants to stay in London, there is another club in need of a similar talent. http://www.espn.com/soccer/arsenal/...lintat-leaving-over-transfer-strategy-sources
Any idea what their expectations were going into the season? Obviously this cup run is great, just curious about how well people would say they're doing in the Championship (currently in 6th).
Little dated but feels like Sarri's struggles at Chelsea. More possession but less to show for it. https://www.skysports.com/football/...frank-lampard-changed-at-derby?basketId=11696
The other league cup semi is tonight and wondering what odds are longer: Burton to win 10-0 or Guardiola to sub himself in at halftime and netting a hatrick?
https://www.skysports.com/football/...ry-henry-can-steer-monaco-clear-of-relegation Cesc Fabregas believes head coach Thierry Henry will be able to save Monaco's season with the club in danger of relegation from Ligue 1. Wonder how that's working out? https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/46995436 Monaco have sacked manager Thierry Henry after 20 games in charge. Ah.
Qatar (!) has just knocked Korea out of the Asian Cup. Son returning to Spurs. He is a quality player, but not sure he can carry the load of Kane and Alli's absences through March.
that's a HUGE help for them though. he's so versatile and makes really troublesome runs for opposition. they'll be delighted to get him back in the squad.
