    Hi everyone,

First of all, welcome to the new posters joining us! You might have recently created an account just to get in on the World Cup excitement, or you may have already been lurking around BigSoccer and decided to finally get involved in all the banter. Either way, welcome!

A general bit of advice for you, as well as a reminder for our longtime posters: we're all here for the football. With that in mind, we here are taking a zero-tolerance policy towards expressions of racism, sexism, discrimination based on sexual orientation, xenophobia, ad hominem attacks, insults (towards a group of people, countries, or fellow posters) and trolling. Infractions will get you booked - and if you ask where was your warning, this is it. If you see a fellow poster insulting you or a part of your identity (race, sex, nationality, etc.)? Don't respond in kind - REPORT IT. It is the fastest way for us mods to handle the offending posts.

So, with that said, good luck to both sides, and let's enjoy!

Brazil better win; the South American teams have been disappointing even with Uruguay's last minute goal against Egypt.

Brazil will beat Switzerland solidly with minimum effort. Neymar and co are in terrific form btw. Switzerland ain’t Iceland LOL

Yeah but they're small and neutral; makes them the most threatening thing.

They're not like Germany: powerful but misunderstood. That makes Germany less dangerous.

Hopefully Switzerland's defence is not like Swiss cheese... full of holes or else this could be nasty

Only King Roger can save the Swiss from embarrassment.

Have never rated the Swiss and watching them can be painful. Don't expect any problems for Brasil.

This world cup has had some unique results so far. No domination of any kind and the big teams haven't succeeded the way that they're expected to.

Let's see if Brazil will be the first team to win the way that they're expected to.

True. I'm a bit worried. Let's hope that it's not a curse on the big dogs, and Brazil delivers.

they will. For me Brazil has been the 1st pick at winning the WC and I've said this 1-2 months before the WC started. And the results we're seeing in this 1st leg of the WC are just confirming my sayings.

I actually would like Brazil to win cause players that I like (like Coutinho, Paulinho, Thiago Silva, Becker, or Willian) are too good not to win the WC. Sure, I'd also like Argentina to win, as well (because I like Messi and Aguero), but... only one can win, sadly

Actually, I'll let God decide who He likes to be champion :)

I can see them bunkering the hell out of it and frustrating Brazil if they don't score fast.

Brazil are slow starters. We are better as the competition goes on. Just look at our past opening games; outside of two or three results, it usually narrow wins. I would be surprised if we game out the gates swinging.

If Brazil displays a convincing performance today they should be considered firm favourites to win the World Cup as all the other favourites struggled so far.
