PBP Thread: Match #2, Egypt vs. Uruguay, 15 June 2018 [R]

I wanted to see more courageous game not calculations by Egypt
They have to believe in the them selves
They cAnt go far anyways
Just play more risky game and don't keep Salah on the bench next game

 

It's gonna be Russia and Uruguay out of this group...

 

I think he broke his clavicle or something major. No one is saying it because they don't want to ruin hope. But he's maybe just a mascot at this point.

Suarez just couldn't last the game without some theatrics.

 

1-0 Final. Uruguay finally breaks the trend of not winning the first game since 1970.


I do believe that this will make the Egypt - Russia match that much better. Egypt has to push to score and win. Russia may have a hangover and think they are better than they actually are.

I hope Salah plays and scores.

 

I'm definitely not ready to count out Egypt. Russia-Egypt is going to be fascinating. Egypt is not going to make the defensive mistakes Saudi Arabia did and Russia could come into the game with some overconfidence.

 

First high-quality game of this World Cup. Egypt very well organized defensively, they will be a challenge for Russia.

I hope no other African team does this in this WC. Tired of this playing well and losing at the very end crap.

 

Uruguay v Egypt 1:0 (0:0)
Uruguay deserved to win what was mostly a bore fest. Egypt was doing better with a midfield press in the first half, but dropped deeper using a low press in the 2nd half. That made the game boring although Cavani had 2 good shots that could have scored (one saved by the goalie, the other hit the post off a freekick) and Suerez missed 3 good chances in this game.

Overall, though, the biggest problem with Uruguay to me was Suerez. He really killed their game.

 

It all depends on Salah. Egypt, for all their defensive resolve, showed no quality up front except for the odd Fathi run.

If Suarez was on my team, I would love him. I love how he.plays. But my God, he's a twat. He did a 720 flop off of getting stepped on.

There is no way I could objectively ref a game of his. I would so want to card him for simulation.

 

Russia and Uruguay will go through.

 

Godin and Gimenez are a wall.

 

Egyptian team played well, but better team won. After two games I would bet my money on.Uruguay and Russia though.
