    Hi everyone,

First of all, welcome to the new posters joining us! You might have recently created an account just to get in on the World Cup excitement, or you may have already been lurking around BigSoccer and decided to finally get involved in all the banter. Either way, welcome!

A general bit of advice for you, as well as a reminder for our longtime posters: we're all here for the football. With that in mind, we here are taking a zero-tolerance policy towards expressions of racism, sexism, discrimination based on sexual orientation, xenophobia, ad hominem attacks, insults (towards a group of people, countries, or fellow posters) and trolling. Infractions will get you booked - and if you ask where was your warning, this is it. If you see a fellow poster insulting you or a part of your identity (race, sex, nationality, etc.)? Don't respond in kind - REPORT IT. It is the fastest way for us mods to handle the offending posts.

So, with that said, good luck to both sides, and let's enjoy!

It will be a low-scoring game. Japan will hold off Colombia successfully in the first half but individual brilliance will bring Colombia the three points with a single goal.

Late managerial change on the Japanese squad will somehow affect their performance.

    Colombia 2-0.

Yup. Reports suggest James will not start.

To the Colombian supporters.. how much does this affect the team? He is obviously an important piece.. but, will it affect your team negatively to the point you wouldnt feel confident in his replacement?

Loving the WC2018 but i'm a real soccer novice.

But surely tonight Colombia simply beat Japan.

World ranking Colombia (16) Japan (61)

Soccer ranking means little. Are they in form or out of form now

    TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
    What immortal hand or eye
    Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp
    Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee?

    Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
    What immortal hand or eye
    Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

(This is your moment Falcao. Lead this team to victories.)

Are Japan a good chance tonight?
Are they an attacking team or try to rely on defence and counterattacking?
Any players from both teams i should watch for?

Japan's strength is the collective gameplay. They do have players that can make a difference (shinji kagawa and keisuke honda are my favorites because they're more technical and can make a difference, but other japanase whose names I don't remember right now are more effective in front of the goal). That being said, again, Japan is strong when they play as a team, but even so they have rarely gotten notable results against strong teams. I can't explain exactly why they've never gotten results cause they have been pretty constant at every WC so far. It's one of the footballing mysteries for me...

Their style? Hmm.. I can't say for sure. They are decent on the counters, but they're also good at keeping possession (they don't blast long balls like the Brits do for example). They're not particularly impressive in any area, they just have a bit of everything (counters, creativity, efficiency... just not enough to grant them results, like I said...)

As for Colombia... I don't know what to say. I'm familiar with most of their players (I know their names, and I've watched some of them play), but other than that I can't tell how they play, or which are their best players because I'm not updated on their gameplan and gameplay

One thing I can say for sure is that James Rodriguez (a playmaker) and Radamel Falcao (striker) are their best players, but I think James Rodriguez won't play in this game. That's what I've heard, I'm not sure if it's true

Let's see.... I'd say 2-1 win for Colombia.

I think both teams will score

I saw some Japan qualifiers and I see their strength as sharp, quick and creative midfield play. At times they can play like Spain or Brazil. But it all falls apart in front of goal. They have no pure finisher. They need to create 10 clear chances to score one goal. That will simply not be enough at this level. This is a group where Colombia, Senegal and Poland all have good defenses that will not give you many chances. Japan needs someone to rise to the occasion and make a difference inside the box.

No one can play like spain or brazil, but I get your point. Also, they do have clinical finishers but I can't remember their names right now.... Wait! Okazaki is one of them but he's not playing, and there's one more whose name is slipping me...

Also, Colombia's defense doesn't impress me much. I still think Japan will score easily in this game... but so will Colombia
