A win is possible but we're not favorites. Mexico looked a little sharper than us in their first game.

Mexico has this in the bag, they are currently the best team in the world right now, probably a 4-1 win for them.

Anyway back to reality, US with a scrappy 1-0 win.

Timothy Weah with the goal in the 81st minute.

I think our defense is not good enough to handle a team like Mexico but we should score a couple of goals. Our boys need to play with a lot of heart tomorrow for us to get a good result.

Gloster and Lindsey look good in possession going forward, but it will be interesting to see them have to defend then start a counter attack.

I don't agree. I think both are poor technically. Playing against Jamaica might make them look good technically lol

Mexico-US games are usually tight regardless of who's "in better form" or more highly rated.

This is a hard one to predict. The big result against Jamaica means we can go out and play without pressure, though. El Salvador looked abysmal the other night, so I have faith we're going to advance regardless of the result against Mexico.

If today's result doesn't matter I'd like to see us practice our wedge blocking.

I saw a Q&A with them. Seem like good kids. Lindsey patterns his game like Kyle Walker, Gloster patterns his game like David Alaba. I kind of think they are the USA's Walker and Rose, if you ask me.

Don't go soft on us now - we're going to need your hard-biting criticism in the weeks and months ahead.

I don't think that the game is meaningless. There is some meaning. Groups A and B standings seem to be just about set in stone. Panama has everything in hand to win A and Honduras should get second. Most importantly, Costa Rica should have no problem winning B and either Cuba or Suriname will be second because Canada . (quick stat: The last time Cuba won a game in this tournament was 8 years ago. Against Canada!)

So the winner gets to play in a group with Cuba or Suriname. Easy, peasey classification. Just beat the minnow. The loser will have to tough it out with two good CA teams.

I agree, this group looks pretty solid and is certainly playing a good modern style. Not showing the hiccups previous YNTs have had at this stage.

Oh, the game is unquestionably important.
However, the Jamaica demolition took some of the pressure off in terms of advancement. If we'd lost or drawn with Jamaica there'd be huge pressure on us to BEAT Mexico. I was concerned with this group. Lets we forget, we struggled against Jamaica at the 2015 U17 tournament.................even with Pulisic, Wright, Adams, etc. out there. We lost to them 1-0 in the group phase and then needed penalties to beat them in the all-important qualification game.

So we can go out there with a little bit of freedom this evening. Let's attack Mexico from the beginning.

Gotta remember that Mexico tore us apart 6 months ago in the Torneo de Naciones. They looked better than us, dominated possession and we had issues defending. That said we got our goals also. It may be that home ground and altitude gave Mexico an edge since they really pulled ahead in the last 30 minutes of the game.

    lol

I really don't have much bad to say about Gloster. He's really good. I'd prefer he be a little more technical, but beggers can't be choosers, we have a legit good LB prospect, finally. Lindsey is a little worse. He's bigger, has the same type of speed, but I think he's a little behind defensively right now. Technically, same story. He's no Xuxuh going forward, although he is athletic and can cover ground.

What is it exactly that you don't understand about home-field advantage, especially during the last 30 minutes or so of a game played at altitude!!!
