No doubt about the book. In fact, it was the book coming out that convinced me he was retiring.

Ashley Young has barely played for England. I'm pretty sure Scholes was referring to other players. Possibly Bale and/or Milner.

Never heard or read about that. Where did you both read about it ?

Now that's going to be one must have book

As I said - did Scholes and AY ever even play together in England?

I'd guess no, they are from different iterations of the England side.

^Exactly. Scholesy is not referring to AY.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't kind of disappointed with that team.

    Become the Tea Pot!!
    'kind of?'

    It's terrible.

Even worse considering there has been a whole summer to prepare it.

it would be nice if players that have been waxing lyrical about Scholes would be on the United team. players like Xavi and Zidane....

Well thanks for saying what I was thinking then DS. Not a single significant attacking player out there for one of the best attacking CMs of the generation. Brian McBride and Robbie Keane? Are you serious? Robbie f8*kin Keane who can't even find a club right now? This is kind of shameful.

edit: What pgr said. All the people that praised Scholesy couldn't be there, but this lot? Really? Cosmos Reserve players are allowed to be in this? SMH.

this is just a bizarre testimonial.

My guess is Umbro, owned by NIKE, produces kit and apparel for the Cosmos. So this thing is set up with us to sell more products.

The whole Cosmos thing makes no sense to me. MLS is an Adidas league, so if the Cosmos does get into MLS, what would Umbro/Nike do?

With that said, the Cosmos stuff does look nice:p

I still don't understand what the hell this Cosmos thing is to be honest.

they are vying to become the next MLS franchise.

also, according to Howard Nurse (BBC), Scholes will be playing for the Cosmos.

I subscribe to their Facebook page and still have no idea. They have some academies and youth teams over the NYC area. They recently release a black out kit in some really cool look place... and that's about it. They almost seem more like a concept than a team...
Not going to happen, but I hope Keane would suit up for us one more time.:D

I was hoping it was Keano as well when I first saw it.

Is that all they're going for? Could they not jump into one of the other divisions first?

well they only just started up again this season... they do have a u23 team in the Premier Development League (PDL).

obviously the need for a stadium is key and whether or not MLS feels a second NY team can do well.

Thought it might help their cause. From what I gathered, Portland and Vancouver were going strong in the next level down which helped them get in. Is there definitely going to be further expansion, or are they just hoping for it?
