It will be first come first serve in the other lots for those who do not have a parking pass your best bet may be to find a lot across the street that you can park.
For those with the plastic parking pass: a friend recently pointed out to me that the map on the back showing Buck Shaw Stadium, the parking lots and the surrounding streets has Buck Shaw Stadium accidentally (apparently) printed facing in the wrong direction with the north end facing southward and vice versa. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Are they ticketing in the nearby residential neighborhoods or can we park somewhere within walking distance and head over?
I would like to tell you, but the parking spots are limited there and it's first come first served. You'll all know where the good spots are by the end of the match Saturday anyway.
Re: No Tailgating at Buckshaw!?! just got this email from my ticket rep and i'm pissed. if i can only tailgate in oakland, then why in F*&#%@g! hell did i spend $170 on a parking pass!?! plus, i'm pretty sure this wasn't known when the 'firesale' on parking passes happened, otherwise i'd just ride the damn lightrail. | i'm going to email my rep and ann rodriguez and let them know i'm not happy. >:| Attention Season Ticket Holders, Our first home game at the newly renovated Buck Shaw stadium in Santa Clara is just a few short days away. Due to university and local municipal restrictions there is NO Tailgating allowed in any of the VIP Parking, Parking Lots A or B nor in the General Parking Lots located across from the stadium. However, we do have the CLUB QUAKE TAILGATE ZONE opening for the first time on May 3rd! The Earthquakes will open the Club Quake Tailgate Zone at 5:00pm (2 hours prior to kick-off) The only entry gate for the Tailgate Zone is at the South Gate (closest to Leavey Center and the VIP lot) Concession stands will be open and will have food, non-alcoholic beverages and beer for sale There will be access to restrooms You cannot bring your own food/drink into the tailgate zone There is grass and tables to sit at in the tailgate zone You will need a game ticket to enter the Club Quakes Tail Gate Zone More stadium and game-day information will be coming soon along with a stadium map for your
This tailgate stuff really makes me unhappy. Conveniently, tailgating isn't allowed at the stadium, but they set up a special section for us. Where a hot dog will cost your entire life's savings and a beer is the price of crude oil.
They're not ticketing Saturday, but they are going to have monitors in the neighborhoods asking us not to park there according to the SC council meeting in March. If we disobey and do park in the neighborhoods around SCU the city/SCU/Quakes are have an agreement that ticketing and/or permit parking would be implemented on game days. In other words... don't park in the neighborhoods.
Just don't whine to us when they ticket you at the next Buck Shaw game... or if some neighbor slashes your tires Seriously though, we really should be good neighbors and not invade their neighborhoods.
slash my tires? its not like i'm parking in Fruitvale. besides, i know some spots around there that have good parking in front of businesses, not homes. i just have to walk a bit.
True, I was referring more to the residential areas. Particularly the area just south of the campus. There's an old lady there who delights in video taping ANYONE breaking the law or being a public nusciance. She's particularly fond of the students, but I'm sure she's not averse to moving her ire to us either if we piss her off. The SCPD has traditionally always listened to her too...
I won't park anywhere that its posted that I am not allowed to park. After that though, as long as its a legal space, its fair game. Lee
My work place is only 5-10 min from SCU. I just drove around the neighborhood. There are some street parking spaces on that portion of El Camino, The Alameda and Lafayette. However, I guess unless you arrive early, they will be quickly occupied. If you venture west of Lafayette, you should be able to find street parking. There is parking outside businesses, medical offices and in the residential area but not in front of residential homes (like long stretches of the side fences). Unless they also mark those as unavailable, I think we can park our cars there. The signs on those street right now says 2 hr or 4 hr parking between 8am-6pm except holidays, Sat and Sun. It is not that far away and it is walking distance. You will have to go across Lafayette and then through the SCU campus to the stadium. I hope the info helps. You can look at this map to get some idea. http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=...354433,-121.937363&spn=0.006618,0.014205&z=16 I don't know how much they charge for the parking lots but I will try to save some money. I guess after a game or two we will all find our own favorite and legal parking spaces. My old favorites near Spartan was the park outside the low income housing complex.
