SOUTH AFRICA has been confirmed by the FIFA #ExCo as host of the FIFA U-20 Women‘s World Cup 2016.— FIFA Women's World Cup (@FIFAWWC) December 5, 2013
Which means CAF will get three teams in a 16-team major women's tournament (U20 or older) for the first time ever.
likely the allocations will be the same as 2014: Host: 1 UEFA: 4 CONCACAF: 3 CONMEBOL: 2 CAF: 2 AFC: 3 OFC: 1
South Africa pulled out of organising the tournament, the host is unknown atm FIFA official allocation is : AFC: 3 CAF: 2 CONCACAF: 3 CONMEBOL: 2 OFC: 1 UEFA: 4 Host: 1
Let Netherlands host it in 2016. For some reason, I like that choice for the U-20 WWC in 2016. But that may not happen if France hosts it in 2018 (right before the 2019 WWC in France as well). Therefore, if a Euro team can't host it in 2016, then let Australia host it.
according to Wikipedia, three countries are bidding to replace South Africa as the host of the 2016 U-20 WWC. The three candidates are: Uzbekistan, India & Uganda.
That's good ol' FIFAs argument and irrelevant. Why arent there any countries with footy infrastructure bidding to host a footy tournament? India, Usbekistan and Uganda? That's a disgrace.
FYI, all three have been removed from the Wikipedia page. I never found any proof on FIFA.com that any of those three had submitted bids. IMO, if South Africa loses the bid to host the 2019 WWC(& the 2018 U-20 WWC), I say let them host the 2016 U-20 WWC anyways.
whoever is updating the Wikipedia page for this tournament needs to stop. they keep posting incorrect information. They have that a new host will be chosen on Sept. 25(a week ago). There's no info from FIFA that a new host has been chosen, nor any meetings of any kind that took place that weekend.
Papua New Guinea as hosts?? http://www.pngfootball.com.pg/tabid...a47a-b8409bf95959/language/en-US/Default.aspx
OK, bringing this thread up to date. http://www.insidethegames.biz/sport...hosts-of-2016-fifa-under-20-women-s-world-cup Bonnie Lass, Lusankya Do you want to wait until FIFA awards the 2016 U20 World cup before changing the name of this thread, that way you do not have to do it 2 times?
You need to put an "@" before our names or we won't get a notice. Yeah, no need to change anything unless we get official confirmation about the new hosts. Btw. the reasoning to back out is weird, considering that only every four years the U-20 WWC is linked to the senior WWC. The 2016 U-20 WWC shouldn't be linked to the hosts of the 2019 WWC.
Is because "they have" to host the 2018 U20 WC (if they win the rights for 2019 WC). If they did not back out (2016), they would host 2 U20 WCs back to back. I guess they are afraid that FIFA would reject their 2019 WC bid if this was the outcome (or they just do not want to host 2 U20 WCs). But this is not a new rule, they should have knows about this long time ago. Maybe they just did not know they wanted to host the big women's cup before they bid for the 2016 U20.
Oh, I totally forgot South Africa bid for the 2019 WWC. That's of course a good reason and I think their chances to get the WWC aren't that bad.
Sweden to announce interest in hosting 2016 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. http://t.co/KKZW2srBTE— Daniel (@DandalBs) November 5, 2014
let's see, Sweden or Papua New Guinea? I'd go with Sweden. This would also have two European countries hosting the U-20 tournament assuming France is awarded the 2019 WWC.
The Swedish article do mention that Sweden competes with one other nation for it so I guess that means it is just Sweden and Papua New Guinea that want it
And Neu Guinea would also mean mandatory (har, har) "seaweed" surfaces. Always applicable to local weather conditions.....
