Sad display all around. Fans should be ashamed.

No kidding. I was worried a friggin riot might break out with fans storming the field, and attacking panama's players. What a bunch of violent thugs mexican fans are.... this is the problem when a huge audience supporting only one side doesnt get its way....

Mexico's coach kicked a panama player??? WTF was that BS? LOL 10 minutes of stoppage time, wow. Well good for Panama to tie Mexico, teach these cheaters a lesson somewhat.

I don't know, this is starting to become par for the course. I only caught the 60 minutes of extra time, so I don't know what happened to get everyone all riled up like a wasps nest--anyone care to explain?

    That was an ugly ending.

I'm more surprised nowadays when the Mexican team/fans DONT do something to be ashamed of during a match. Its not a true Mexico game without the fans littering the field with crap. Of course they feel there actions are perfectly ok.

    Re: Panama V. Mexico

I should also add that it didn't help that

    1) Panama spent much of the match playing very physically, playing real hack ball. The Mexican team took it for much of the first half; in the second, they started giving what they were getting. So the match was really ugly to begin with.

    2) The refereeing was atrocious -- not in the sense of bad foul calls/no-calls, but in the sense of game control. The center let it get pretty physical all through the first half, and then ended the first half with a red card for each team because of a comparatively minor round of post-foul shoving. That match always had the chance of boiling over on the field; I'm kinda amazed it didn't.

Wow. I've heard about stuff like that, but never actually seen it. Panama has every right to be pissed, but full credit to the Mexican players for trying to calm their fans. Total class by Ochoa escorting Phillips to the tunnel, though it looked lame when after all the hubbub, the security guy did the bum rush & there were only like 2 paper cups thrown at him.

Shameful display by Mex. fans, and WTF was Agguire thinking?

Ironically, the fans' antics just took away time that their team could've been using to actually score. Even the 10 min. added time was way too short.

Did the stretcher crew actually drop that Panamanian player? I couldn't tell from where I was.

And finally, what kind of self-hate does a person have to have to make them want to be a referee? If it had been me, I'dda been like, "1 minute of extra time", and then 25 seconds in, blown the whistle and run like hell for the locker room.

BOLD PREDICTION: A USA-Mexico WCQ will never be played in Houston.

    Re: Panama V. Mexico

I wondered if that long period of time the refs spent talking to the CONCACAF officials with handheld radios after Perez got beaned was them deciding whether to just call the match right there, or whether that wouldn't work for crowd control reasons.

Simply horrible.... it kinda sucks refs cant extend stoppage time, it was probably needed.... extremely ludicrous ending to the game... mexican fans need to be very ashamed of themselves, even if i did see several panama players trying to trick ref with fake fouls throughout the match.

I am a USMNT supporter but I am Mexican American.... my dad who is full on Mexican was disappointed with the fans.... I am quite embarassed too....

I always hated Ochoa but that guy was class when he tried to calm the crowd down....

I wonder what's gonna happen when CONCACAF drops the hammer to those involved

I don't think either (some of) the Mexican fans nor the Panamanian players really have much to be proud of tonight.

Though the Panamanians actions throughout the game and after, certainly didn't help the situation. Innocent they were not.

Why hate him? I've always liked him a lot more than Oswaldo Sanchez, because he's never given me any reason to dislike him. Sanchez has.

Its the truth. You put guys in there with INS jackets in addition to regular security and I guarantee you don't see what you did tonight.

Of course the ref can extend stoppage time. It's at his discretion.

It would have been foolish to do so here though. It was a bad situation that needed to be ended asap.

    So anyway...

is there some thread somewhere about Mexico being in disarray? Did Luis Bueno write it?

Oh wait, that's right...it's been going on for the past three years and nobody knows if there is an end in sight.

As a die hard U.S. fan, I get great delight in this information.

    Antithesis of Dirty Sanchez.
