Wednesday match, the day before the world cup starts. Colorado hosts a dumpster fire from Chicago - one dumpster fire hosting another? Kind of fun right? 7pm at the Dick. TV on Altitude. We are going for our 10th loss in a row, 9 straight loss in MLS. Pretty exciting as we chase the record. Which game do you think will be higher quality? This or Russia - Saudi Arabia? It will be interesting to compare. Post your thoughts and predictions, pre, in game, and post here. Then on to the world cup....
No doubt everyone is simply bursting with enthusiasm at this point. Maybe this is the one game we can earn a point, but a loss seems much more probable.
Kind of crazy, but I'm also at this stage in fandom where it's more interesting to witness a record losing streak then to witness some boring 0-0 tie haha.
For sure. I hate 0-0 losses at all times (I think neither team should get a point), but I don't even want a 2-2 tie at this point. Lets go the record books!
Gee, I wonder if they are expecting a big crowd? My prediction: $20 gets you a beer, hot dog and 1-0 loss.
I have chosen "The Villain" as the substitute for this game. Arnold, Kirk Douglas, and Ann-Margret (helloooo nurse!) in a late '70s Western comedy with cartoon physics. It is ridiculous and far fetched just like a Rapids game. Unlike a Rapids game it features a cast of talented characters (the late, great Paul Lynde as well as the above) and is fairly enjoyable. Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler Also unlike a Rapids game, the good guys prevail!
Kind of like being on the hitless end of a no-hitter - when it's in the 7th/8th/9th innings, you actually want the opposing pitcher to succeed, just to see it happen. Car wreck.
Don't you all realize that by wishing for the loss, you are set up to be disappointed? The Rapids disappoint, that's what they do... Expecting a TIE! 0-0 for the Rapids org WIN! Chicago has 10 more points than Colorado... They also have hope as they are just below the playoff line (1 point out actually). They are LWLWD in the last 5 - equaling our win count for the whole season... in the last 5 games. They are 2-3-1 away... so they can win on the road... I'm still going with a tie. Yeah, definitely a tie! Will I torture myself and watch it? Probably not. Certainly not going. Fun times folks.
So, by kind-of-hoping the Rapids lose, I'm actually rooting for them to draw or win? I'm so confused.
We're way passed this guy. We need to find the video of him in his car not even wanting to go to the games. Or where he decides to watch King of the Hill reruns instead of the live match.
Maybe while the match is showing, they could show the 2010 MLS Cup match on the big screen? No, I probably still wouldn't go this week.
Should I bring a newspaper and read that all game? (Does that date me? I guess nowadays I'd have to watch a movie on iPad, or bring a VR set or something.)
There are far better places to get a Bud and hot dog for less money and without a couple hours of indigestion from being forced to stomach the Rapids.
My wife used to bring a magazine to the one game a year I'd drag her out to. With the turnover in the tailgate crew (she was friends with some of the old crew) and the general degradation of the game day experience I don't even bother trying now.
You are correct, there really is not........... #theRapidsWay I am waiting for the obligatory news conference on "changes takes time". On another front, at least the Rockies have decided to chase their way to the celler, too. See you in 108 tomorrow. I actually think they will win. I guess I need medication. R
Here it is! https://aroundmls.com/archive/f/backpass-quitting-the-rapids And my response. F them. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2018/06/game-tomorrow-dont-care.html
You are going to do this and you really felt like you had the blessing of the front office, why not just start all the kids? Permapreseason it's like groundhog day.
You should note that comment you are highlighting is Hudson's response to Rabbi's question. I looked at your article before Rabbi's and thought you comment was from Rabbi.
I'll watch, but not going tonight. I still find it kind of compelling, like a car crash. Plus not many games this time of year. I'll go again after the World Cup, if nothing else looking forward to seeing opponents like Zlatan, LAFC, etc.... Plus i just love live soccer.
