Different styles of ineffective players. Mwanga didn't run. Gatt runs a lot but doesn't accomplish anything.
The similarities I see are that both are formerly heralded young wings whose stars fell so far they found themselves getting runouts with the Rapids. While Mwanga doesn't have Gatt's speed, both players would occasionally show some touch with the ball and make a good run, and then never do anything with it. Will Gatt get another chance or will he end up in the NASL/USL?
Hope he doesn't get another chance, not because I have anything against Gatt personally, but because I hope we have multiple better players in his spot next year.
I really really dislike this Rapids team. It is easily my least favorite Rapids team. Even the 1996 Houghton debacle at least entertaining on offense (44 goals in 32 games). This isn't a home improvement project. It's a scrape-and-replace project.
Back to back games where I accurately predicted the score. Any reason I should watch my recording of this? No Ralphie run tonight, inclement weather (I think hey were concerned about the divots she'd put into the field)
Crazy sleep cycle so I followed the game from MLSsoccer.com. Since I probably won't rematch more than the highlights, what was it like? Back passes and little aggression, long balls, etc? BTW: did see Fulham v 'Boro yesterday ... Craven Cottage has to be the best setting for a soccer stadium I've seen.
Typical boring play. Meaningless possession followed by 40 yard 50-50 ball. No creativity. Same head scratching "why is Watts playing?" and "why isn't Aigner starting?" We never looked like we might win. We did look like we might lose by more than 1 goal. Gatt is one dimensional. Hairston tries, Badji tries. Williams is not very good. Axel looks like a shell of his DPOY candidate season.
There were apparently multiple Rapids fans at that game yesterday. One of the C38 leadership was also there.
I wish I'd known! With the Ravens/Jags game at Wembley, there are Americans everywhere. How long are they in town for?
Gotta say Howard messed up on both goals. The first cross was way too close to the goalie for a defender to make a play, you would expect a punch there. The second goal was late reaction by Howard to cut off the angle. Starting Watts next to Azira is probably the worst lineup decision this season and that's saying something.
