No sense dwelling on CHI any longer. The only goal the Revs have left is to hold off Orlando for 7th place in the East. Orlando hosts DCU Sunday. http://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/ma...england-revolution-vs-montreal-impact/preview
Considering how inept Burns has been in bringing in SI's the draft is still important for the Revs and the higher we get to pick the better. I know the payoff from the draft the past few years has been marginal at best but it's always been a mainstay for this franchise
Well, we don't have our own #1 pick (traded to CMB for Kamara), so losing to MON won't help us. But we did get Colorado's pick for Jones, which in March was "likely" to be a top five pick...
Soccer America is reporting that the Revs are expecting north of 37k for this last game. What a shame it could not have meant something.
I hope everyone at the Revs, from top to bottom, resists the will to interpret a giant turnout to a meaningless game as a supporting leg in a blanket validation of their approach. e.g., "Wow, we can draw 37K+ to a meaningless game even if we don't deliver results on the field." That could then in turn be the basis for the Revs continuing to conclude that the product they are producing is close enough to, or even exactly, what their customer base demands. And that game and season competition results just don't matter that much to the actual success factors that Revs mgmt DO feel are critical, whether those be financial and otherwise.
If this is true, then I guess it was probably just as well that we lost in Chicago last week. If we had won and everything was on the line for a do-or-die playoff game vs. Montreal, then it would certainly validate to the tone-deaf FO that things are just fine. It's also been said before that a lot of the big crowd is due to group sales and flex-tickets being used. These were people who would have come anyway at some point during the season, but hadn't for whatever reason. The "use it or lose it" factor.
Not only that, but any unused flex tickets get counted in the attendance for this game, even if they don't show.
Heaps talks about the line-up, not putting out a B team, but some changes. “There will be, here or there, a move or two. Maybe as the game goes on you’ll see different players factor in,” Femi and Watson most likely out, Tierney maybe. Do we want to see 90 minutes from Herivaux, Mccrary (is he still on the team?), Neumann, Smith, any of the other goalies?
Massive crowd expected for Sunday’s finale: “We’ve got to pay that tribute” October 19, 2016, 3:53PM EDT Jeff Lemieux The last time the Revs leading goal-scorer finished the year with only 6 goals was Marko Perovic in 2010.
Yes - I hope we do. Otherwise, why bother keeping them on the roster? Don't they know they could **SAVE EVEN MORE MONEY** with a smaller roster? After all, you only get 3 field subs a game so a game day 18 is overkill...see Columbus Here's to a 13 0 victory and Philly losing for a miraculous playoff berth. Ohhhh yeahhhh
Rev legends Joseph "box to box" Niouky Edgaras "MGH regular" Jankasaurus Zak "your calling is Doctor, not pro soccer" Boggs Zach "hat trick hero to zero" Schilawski Gabriel "we never got to see ya" Badilla Pat "relative of Gerard" Phelan Ilija "we still don't know why you left" Stolica .... What a phenomenal team that was.
And what about "Psycho" Lekic? (or was he the previous year?) Hint: There should be certain telltale signs with anyone with the nickname of "Psycho." My lasting memory of him was how excited he was to join the team. He visited the stadium for the first time and marveled how it was as big as Borussia Dortmund, and concluded that we must be a YUUUGE club! I felt bad for him when he finally realized they weren't talking about the Revs when they said that the football team in Foxboro sells out all 68,000 seats and has a long waiting list for season tickets!
Actually, Zak is still trying to make it as a soccer player, spent this year with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the USL.
While Rusty could be firey at times, he got his name as a nod to Stuart Pierce, the English player with, um, an interesting personality. Kinda like how Brian McBride was sometimes called "Bake" (and it wasn't because 4:20 was his favorite time of day) or any ath-uh-leet named "Gamble" somehow gets tagged with the nickname "Oscar."
weather permitting I am making my first trip to Gillette this year only because I promised my grandson a game this year.
