The revs will travel to Columbus on Weds 6/24. Kick off is at 7:30. They are hoping to put their last one behind them and focus on getting back to their winning ways by securing a huge 3 points on the road. Will the revs find their form again? Discuss.
Cletus Crewfan is a-settin on his front porch, being so thoroughly entertained by the skeeters being zapped alive that he doesn't even bother to wipe up the drool rolling down his chin. His daughter Lurleen comes home, looking a little nervous. "Paw, Ah think Ah maht be preg-nint..." "Whu? Are yew shuure? How do you know it's yours?" The Cow-shaggers, like us, are a team that should be doing much better in the standings. They have some decent players and won't be easy, especially the way we've been playing. They are susceptible, but we have to be firing on all cyllanders. One good thing from our last game is that Lee Nguyen appears to be moving back on track. Hopefully he will continue to play that way and regain his form of last year. It's a bit early to talk of "must win" games, but we are at a crossroads and this one will show whether we can get back on track by beating a good team on the road (like we should have Sunday) or whether we are just biding our time until Jermaine Jones comes back, hoping to fall not too far off the pace.
The Revs played Sunday, so I'm sure Heaps will be rotating players, and we will see Alston in some capacity again. Put it this way, I'm making Kei Kamara captain of my fantasy team this week...
Our road record, in particular, is pretty dismal. We just don't seem to be able to absorb the punches when things don't go our way (which is nearly inevitable in road games). This is a winnable game, but we have to show up with the mental toughness necessary to see out a win in a hostile environment. I really hope he'll have seen the light and go with Hall instead. I think he probably likes the potential of Alston to get into the attack, but it just hasn't been coming to fruition and Hall seems like a much steadier option defensively at the moment. And, if there're tired legs on this team, Rowe, Fagundez and Kobayashi should all be relatively fresh.
I'm afraid this will be a re-play of the KSC game, an early goal followed by some bad subs and mental fragility... oh wait...
Any line-up predictions? I think last game I was 100% knighton Hall-Farrell-JoGo-Alston Caldwell-Doorman Rowe-Nguyen-Fagundez Davies
Anybody remember the TV show that featured: "This is Carlton, your doorman?" I'd be really surprised not to see Shuttleworth and Agudelo in the lineup.
Columbus is a weird team. Earlier this season, they were one of the more entertaining teams in MLS to watch, but then they fell into a sinkhole. I'm not sure Berhalter is getting all he can out of what is a pretty talented starting 11. They're on a bad run lately. So yes, the Revs should win.... unless Heaps can find the exact combination of substitutes needed to sabotage the victory.
Tchani has a frightening amount of talent, but it seems he gets a little too emotionally involved in the game. He's probably part of their inconsistency puzzle.
After driving all the way to the DC game to see them blow the lead, I guess I will watch this one in the comfort of my Lazy Boy Come on Revs ... close out a game!
Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww!!! ----------Shuttleworth Tierny--Goncalves--Farrell--Hall-- ------Kabyashi---Caldwell----- Agudelo-----Nguyen-------Rowe ---------------Bunbury---------------
Called from 50 yards away and at an angle where he couldn't have seen? Brad was probably right that it was the 4th or A/R in the ref's ear (especially since Rowe had two touches before the whistle), but don't you have to be doubly sure if you are in that situation?
what a craptastic half. Rowe showing once again why he should be on the bench. Teal looking out of place up top. Juan looking like he is not interested in playing, ball watching by the back 4, dogs and cats living together..Mass hysteria!
