I couldn't really remember much of him in this game, pretty much no one's done anything of note except press on D. But that was a very nice diaganonal ball.
Great ball by Bloomberg. Great aggressive run by Jackson. Hopefully that marks the official end of the “McBean era.”
I was trying to look up Niki Jackson when he came in...did Balboa say he played against Jackson's father, or were they talking about another player? It was right after the sub.
Aside from sheer ugliness of Price's double-sitter and Marlon's sitter, and the complete ineptness of the Badji-McBean combo, at least the two MLS rookie high-motors of Niki Jackson and Enzo Martinez are a remote saving grace. Nice feed by Blomberg as well. Yes, the bitter frustration from past seasons is resurfacing again. Maybe things will look better in the final 15. As for Xfinity Channel 800 "coverage"? Pure fail. Annoying audio problems all game. Had to turn off audio, which precluded hearing Marcelo and Richard commentary.
Agudelo should have had a much better career. Hard to believe he's never scored 10 goals in a MLS season.
Jackson scored the goal that put the Rapids back in the game and then committed the dumb foul that gave NE the winner.
Ended the game with two subs remaining. Pablo would have been roasted on this board and social media if that happened last season.
Well there ya have it. Similar emotions as an endless number of matches last year. Ugly match. Loss at the end. All I know is that after these past 3 matches, it's becoming safe to say Badji should NOT be a starter (maybe a 70th minute sub for speed only), and McBean should not be in the 18 (and Charlotte would be best place for him, frankly). Completely inept up top. Hopefully Mason will pan out, and maybe Niki Jackson has potential, and maybe the pending signing will be legit. Sure hope so, because the current starting forwards just can't cut it. No other way to say it.
They need Aigner in there. Their 3 midfielders all try to take care of the ball but don't seem very creative.
My gut reaction to the result is that the Rapids were their own worst enemy - on both goals NE scored. Yes, the foul was a bit soft that resulted in the winning goal, but why would you make contact with a player who has his back to the goal about 19 yards out? If I were a casual fan I would be thinking "what's going to be different this season compared to last in terms of results." The Rapids don't have the talent to gift one or two goals a game and think they'll get a result. I know exactly what Hudson't going to say to this -"fitness." He wants all his guys to be used to going full speed the full 90. So he's playing the long game here. Fitness now, results to follow. Have to say, the Rapids had fight and determination in them - especially after the Price F-up.
Absolutely! I was thinking that virtually no opportunities are created up the middle by the Rapids. Aigner may help with this. And I think Boateng could as well.
