Apologies for my part in that This is the first home game where I'm in town, without plans, not sick, and not at the game since 2008 (which I didn't buy season tickets until Clavijo left in August).
Just found out my 5 year old nephew scored his first goal in his second ever game today and it was the game winner. Is it too late to sub him in for Gordon?
With that point, the Kroenke Line for the coveted Wooden Spoon is now 0.67 points per game, well below the Rapids' season performance of 0.93 PPG. The s-s-s-Spoon could be s-s-s-slithering away . . .
We had a lovelly tailgate The the game...... Just back to basic last place Rapids.......Draw at home is a VICTORY?? Sheeeeeeit, last year we complained abut ties. Sigh. Left early.......... zzzzzzzzzzzzz Next Year? 2019????????????? Sigh. I hate Kronke............ R
The half was dreadful. I was wondering when they'd first complete a pass in the attacking half. Kortne Ford to Watts at 9:17. At home.
Nice that they tied it at the end but that was another dreadful game. Badji seems to be lousy or anonymous for the whole game but now and again he pulls off something remarkable and on the 2017 Rapids, that means talisman. I'm still amazed how bad they are after getting their coach fired. Usually a team responds a little. I like how the other team can shut down the Rapids build out of the back by pressing, and by pressing that means having a forward run to within 10 yards of the backline.
Ford had a nice moment late as Villa had it in the open field and Ford made the tackle. That wiil be one for Ford's scrapbook.
The 2018 Pre-season marches on, with a good look at several of our "on the bubble" players. It will be interesting to see which make the 2018 real-season roster, but it is clear the Rapids are just evaluating players at this point and *maybe* trying to compete in the latter moments of these pre-season games. (Evidence: not starting Gashi/Aigner until near the end) A bit sad for Cooke if he actually wanted the head-coaching job. I am guessing he knew early on that he would not be the guy and was told they would take care of him for shepherding the team through the pre-season. Otherwise, the guy is royally getting shafted. Rod.
Meh, if he was honest with the situation he had to know this was the plan when he took over. And its not like in his first few games, before the team really "officially" threw in the towel on the season, we looked good.
It's probably good to give Ford and Gatt a good runout along these lines. Ford more for development, as he seems like he'll be good. If they have Gatt under a decent contract, it's probably worth seeing if he has anything to offer. He seems like Danny Mwanga 2 Electric Boogaloo to me, but thankfully I'm not part of the technical staff. Though why not Boateng--have they already given up on him? And it would be good to play Aigner more so the fans can see how the preseason is going. I appreciated that he and Gashi really worked hard to make their limited minutes worth something. Especially Aigner.
To say the starting front of Badji, Gatt, Siaed, and Hairston puts no fear into anyone is an understatement. They might score a goal every fourth game if they play together. The replacement front with Aigner, Gashi, Gordon and Badji at least has a little talent. Aigner seems to understand the game a little and has some field vision. As someone wrote, the Howard scream at Josh was precious. For those who missed it: "Josh...Josh..." (Gat notices.) "Wake the F up." A couple minutes later Gatt was yelling at Siaed. I'm thinking, "So this is how it looks when the wheels fall off." Last but not least, a tip of the cap to Badji. He has very little skill. But dang it, he does get the most out of his talent. There is something to be said for that. Really, you can't ask for more than that; then it's on the front office for not having someone better.
RE Aigner field vision: A couple times last night Aigner was poised to make a run and the entire team was just clueless regarding his movement. He was getting visibly annoyed with the team. At one point in particular, Aigner had clear space and was waving for the ball upfield, and half the stadium was shouting at Miller(?) to release to him... he didn't.
Out of curiosity, what was the point of signing Aigner? If we're not going to really play him until 2018 wouldn't we have been better served to wait, get a new coach, see what the new coach wanted, and sign somebody in the winter window?
