Philly wins on Wednesday over Columbus. Kinda good for Revs since the line stays at 8 points away.

2 other big games this weekend that will influence the playoff line gap: Atlanta hosts Orlando and Red Bulls host Montreal.

Although a little sad that we are are hoping we can squeak into the playoffs based on other teams results.

I would heavily doubt Blake will play after the injury he suffered for Jamaica last night. Tough loss for Philly, he looked like he was in a lot of pain.

Yea, great point - that did look rough.

Also, with Dwyer being traded to Orlando, that also makes a team above the Revs stronger. Revs have to hope for a lot of draws and they have to win.

Philly will not be a pushover, even with them playing Wednesday

Philly did win last night, 3-0 over Crew at home. Unlike LA, at least they don't have a cross country flight on top of that midweek match.

If it was October, that would be par for the course, but we're not even into August yet and we're already playing "must win" or "critical" games and hoping certain teams above us lose. Sad!

Philly's backup keeper, McCarthy, is a solid keeper and I expect he'll start. He'd be the starter on many MLS teams IMO.

Interesting that the MLS preview projects Kamara on the bench. I'd do the same. The question is, do we start Nguyen at forward with Teal coming out of the midfield, or Teal up top with Agudelo? I'd start them both at forward.

    Nguyen-Agudelo-Bunbury
    Fagundez-Koffie-Rowe
    back4

I doubt Kouassi starts as his first return from injury - likely Koffie. It gives us a strong bench of Kouassi, Kamara, Caldwell.

Game in just over an hour. A must-win? The Ouija board says yes. Having Agudelo back should help.

decent first 45. nobody stood out for me. i still feel they are not getting themselves into shooting positions. They seem to like to make the extra pass than take the defender on

Kamara with two goals scored and one saved. That counts as a hat trick for me.

But even more astonishing, Farrell with his second assist in two games -- after recording a solitary assist in the first four years of his career. Honestly, if the Revs can get him contributing offensively, that's as good as adding a forward in my book. He's been sound defensively this season (not that you'd know if from the scorelines), but his offensive contribution has always been amazingly thin, given how often he gets forward.

This is a win that moves the Revs up the standings, too. They need to make a habit of it.

The kid is allergic to using his left foot. Great way for the team to put the points in the bag at the end though. Had to laugh when they showed the shot of the krafts after the second goal and Brad made the remark about them celebrating. Oh yeah looked like a real party in that suite.

They were worried that the Eagles would tie it with a field goal.

Mods - may want to merge the 2 threads.

Good win. Grass helps? Roma/Juventus today helps? Bob in house helps? (Although Kraft and ESPN were doing a big Patriots show on ESPN early this Sunday morning, so it may have been why he was actually at the game ;) )

The team actually looked like a team last night. Bunbury, with all his flaws, showed an energy that did seem to lift the other guys, and seemed to help Kamara. Good crowd and Fort.

Anyone see Heaps take a ball to the face around the 12th minute? Caused him to sit down (probably a good place for him).

Some good results that help the Revs with a couple of draws for the teams above them.

Revs just need to keep winning which is all they can control, BUT if they are really going to move ahead and catch the teams above them - they will have to show that they can:
    • Win away from home
    • Beat a team that did not just play a midweek game
    • Beat a team above the playoff line consistently
2 positive games is a good start, even if those teams are below the playoff line and just played a midweek game. Those are the games you are supposed to win if the schedule works out that way.

Good job, boys! Heaps has to keep it going.

I have coached kids for 20+ years. And for those 20+ years I have harped on them to use the correct foot. Then I watch a professional match and see a professional soccer player pull a blinder like Diego. I always wonder, how can you get to the top level and not be technically sound. The real sad part about this is that Diego is probably the most technically sound player on the Revs. Well at least he made Ale's weekly Awards - Miss of the Week.
