Gashi sighting -- Stanley finally paid the ransom? Hate that time wasting slow walk off on the sub -- because I've seen other Rapids matches this season.
3 points! Another clean sheet as well. Still think we'll be a .500 team this season, which would be a huge improvement over last season
Nice to see Gashi and Boli in three-dimensional real time. Good luck to Toronto on Tuesday. (And thanks for the points.)
I kept waiting for the great collapse at the end, but it didn't come. Admittedly, this match was against a cobbled together TFC side, but still they didn't collapse. That's a step in the right direction, eh?
Satisfying result and deserved win against a totally makeshift side. Feels like the soccer gods gifted us a few points there after several last minute drops. Badji was legitimately and constantly dangerous and terrifying (words I never thought I would say. Glad to be proven wrong). Gashi looked athletic and spry. Since we basically haven’t seen him since 2016, it’s easy to forget how deadly Gashi is around the net. His late first time volley in the 80+ minute was a nice reminder of that form. Also, raise your hand if you thought Gashi would have more minutes than Aigner through 5 games (I was firmly not in that camp). The thought of a healthy Ford/Smith/Wilson/Axel competitive backline, Price/Blomberg/Gashi midfield and Mason/Badji/Boli competitive front almost makes your mouth water. You have to give them credit, regardless of result, they have been competitive in every match with a less than optimal roster. It is not hard to imagine the potential with a fully healthy/fully “gelled” roster. PS. Johan’s mid range and Tommy’s long range touch are both exquisite.
Heard at the game from somebody who was at practice on Tuesday that Aigner didn't finish practice with the team, essentially being told that if he wasn't going to go 100% he didn't need to finish and Aigner then deciding not to finish.
Sounds like a very common trend. Like you said last week....22 games, 5 starts. For a tightly budgeted team, that’s a lot of capital constantly sitting on the bench. Seems like he saw Colorado and MLS as an easy, big fat paycheck. Hard to view it any other way at this point. This conversation goes all the way back to last summer’s transfer window.
My personal opener was a triumph! The boulder stayed at the top of the mountain. At least for today?!? Now, on to the next one. As the man said, "time is interminable wait between football matches."
