McBean. Wynne. Colvey. I just don’t get it. 3 USL-caliber players starting (and that doesn’t include Enzo, who’s probably worthy). I just don’t get it.
Badji is a constant threat. Johan continues to drop dimes into the box. McBean surprisingly not terrible....Pessimistically waiting for the other shoe to drop.
So ... anyone else remember that one time we got a one goal lead and held on the whole way to get the three points ...
TFC lucky to only be down 1. Two great saves by Irwin of solid Badj shots. Team keeping the foot on the gas pedal. TFC doing JUST enough to stay in it. Hopefully it doesn’t bite us late. Would love to see Boli or Gashi for McBean early in the 2nd.
Halftime thoughts: + Price has shown great pace from the kickoff. + Badji is playing with much more confidence and skill than he's shown in previous years. + The Rapids back line is shaky. Upgrades are needed. + Toronto is starting to exploit some opportunities on the left side. + Martinez has transformed from Beardsley Manbun to Beardsley Toy Poodle. He still makes key plays defensively and isn't bashful about launching shots from distance. + The early sub was interesting. Colvey had the touch of a Platypus this match, so either something is wrong with him or his next position may be bench. + Toronto's defensive structure isn't very solid. The Rapids should be up more than one goal. I sure hope this isn't yet another late giveaway match.
Toronto was exclusively attacking the Colvey/Wynne combination. Literally ONLY built down the left. This is becoming a very repetitive, reoccurring theme.
Given the fits Badji is giving the back line, I would LOVE to see Boli for McBean sub. Don’t think they could handle two fast, athletic runners right now. That would be a “go for the jugular” sub.
At 24 years old that ship has probably sailed. (At first I typed 'that loaf was already baked' but the Colorado homegrown aspect could make that confusing.)
I'm starting to think he came with a 5 match/450 minute limited warranty and Hudson wants to save him for later in the season.
