We'll agree to disagree, when Zahibo, one of your holding mids, has the second lowest pass completion percentage of your field players, that is NOT a good thing.
I’ll be really curious to see what Caicedos can do up top. Agudelo is clearly not MLS starting quality as a #9.
Yet the Revs seemingly gave Juan a pay raise over last year's 603k. Not a smart business move in my opinion
Unless they want to maintain his value and then sell him abroad in the summer and the player and agent are aware of the club's intentions. What would it say if they gave him a big pay cut?
Juan is not the problem here. We would have the same problem no matter who was up front when we can't get them the ball in a scoring position. Look at what the other forwards we ditched did in their games this weekend. Both Kamara and Nemeth both scored for their teams. They couldnt do it here but can elsewhere
I had to watch the 2nd half much later. Draw felt like right result, but Revs have to be careful going down a goal and then chasing the game. Better teams might score a 2nd before the Revs are in the game. Something for Friedel to address. And Revs only had 32% possession - another thing for Friedel. If anyone saw the Revs preseason show on NBC Boston, there was some very awkward segment where they had the 3 goalkeepers sitting together talking. Just felt weird. Will be interesting to hear Turner's status - was he injured or has fallen to 3rd (and what is his mental recovery from that) Columbus Saturday - home game!
Maybe! My thing with Juan (and with Teal) was that the times they did get on the ball they killed any attacking momentum the revs had. 0 passes leading to shots, 0 shots period. Lots of bad touches and unsuccessful dribbles. Saying the team didnt get them involved is one thing, but their play showed they dont deserve to be very involved
It would say that they don't value him at 600k and that his production on the field does not warrant a pay check that size

Considering that some were predicting a total train-wreck at 3-0, you have to be pleased with a draw on the road, especially considering some of the late preseason results. Gil's goal was well taken, and hopefully there will be plenty more of that as the season goes on. They had a few reasonable chances, but were missing that final ball. An excellent chance just before halftime when Delamea's header missed. Had that gone it, it would have been a pretty spectacular goal! Zahibo also missed a pretty decent chance, Khano-ing it into the 20th row. We've got plenty of time to wallow in despair. The snow hasn't even melted yet, so let's enjoy being in the middle of the table with a 0 GD while we can!
Currently on pace for 17 road points. They only had 12 last year. If they can match what they did at home last year (29 pts) and earn 17 on the road, that will give them 46 pts. MON finished in 7th last year with 46 pts. Seventh gets you into the playoffs this year.
Right but it would also mean they're almost certainly going to take a loss. If they maintain his value and he has a strong year this season they can sell high.
They're paying him another 600k this season. Unless he performs well enough to sell him for >600k then they lose even more money than if they had just let him walk for nothing. Compound that with the downside. If the plan is to sell him after the season ends that means they gave him a multiyear contract! Otherwise improving his value would be meaningless, as he could once again leave on a free after the season. They're not only throwing good money after bad by re-signing him, but they have committed to paying him 600k for multiple years!
exactly, Signing him for more money was a bad business move all around. Bottom line he is not worth 600k and the Revs FO is not smart enough to sign a player to a multi year contract with the intention of selling him during the summer window. Most likely his PT and value will diminish as soon as JC is healthy
Had a blast going to the game, and even though we were in the last row of the away section, we wound up moving to the 5th row because the stadium was empty. If you ever get the chance to go down to Dallas, go ... their supporters are awesome. The 24-hour tailgate was a lot of fun. Weird that they don't cook the first day though. Game day food was exactly what you'd expect from TX. Game was generally blah. Great to get the goal and the tie on the road though. Feels weird thinking it might be warmer at our home opener than it was this past weekend in Dallas. Also, for those that haven't seen it ... here's the label for one of the 2 2019 Midnight Riders beers (13 year of doing this). The FCD fans loved it.
The game reminded me of some Revs teams back 10-20 years ago when my kids and I would count the completed passes the team strung together. It goes like this: one, two, turnover. One, two, three, turnover. One, turnover. Not my favorite way to watch, but it is what it is! As opposed to Dallas (or many other teams) who string together 10-15 passes in a row routinely. The Revs looked a lot like a college team to me: chasing the game, hoofing it upfield, and fouling over and over. Though it looks like a draw on paper, only one team played good soccer, and it was not the Revs.
NICE LABEL...great touch. Always hard to honor someone, but we all need to do it in our own way and that is a great way to do it from the Riders. Congrats....
It's was the announcer's jinx - they kept talking, early and often, about 12 years without a loss in the home opener. (Can't be because we play like a bad Joe Morrone-coached college team. )
