I don’t know how to feel about these games...but I’ll watch. EDIT: also on ESPN, we are the only game to make that cut. Everything else on ESPN+
Anyone actually going to this? I don’t have tickets and I don’t feel like they’ve been hitting us season ticket holders up. It will either be empty or full of xolos.
Judging by the competition I think our bench might actually good enough to get to the finals of this thing lol.
Yes, sort of. But it is part of a new tournament for US v Mex clubs. Not an inherently bed concept, but this first edition has been rushed into existence without any explanation for how we or anyone else "qualified."
FWIW Tijuana was a top half LigaMx team last season (8th of 18). They also tied Dallas and beat Boca Juniors earlier this month. I don't know what kind of squad they are sending though. Reserves, regulars, who knows?
GBS confirms, there is “no chance” we see Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Jonathan dos Santos play tomorrow against Club Tijuana.— Delmy Barillas (@DelmyBarillas) July 22, 2019 When pressed, GBS said they were out for "rest," not injury
This is silly. But, I’ll watch. There’s even a small chance I might go, just because it’s often fun to go to these less attended, low pressure games. Go Galaxy!
The roster for this game has been announced : Goalkeepers: David Bingham, Matt Lampson, Justin Vom Steeg Defenders: Julian Araujo, Nick DePuy, Giancarlo Gonzalez, Tomas Hilliard-Arce, Diego Polenta, Dave Romney, Jorgen Skjelvik, Diedie Traore, Midfielders: Efrain Alvarez, Favio Alvarez, Uriel Antuna, Emmanuel Boateng, Servando Carrasco, Joe Corona, Emil Cuello, Jonathan dos Santos, Kai Koreniuk Forwards: Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Don Tchilao, Ethan Zubak There are three players from G2 : DePuy, Koreniuk and Tchilao. I'm glad because two of them are among the three players I praised the most for Los Dos this year (along with midfielder Brian Iloski, who wasn't in the the 18 during last G2 game, so maybe he's injured). Well, the third is IMO the worst player for the reserve team this year, and his presence is only due to being a Draft pick and training with the first team on a regular basis. Quick presentation of the three players : - DePuy : a very, very big CB, strong in the air, what I like the most about him is his ability to anticipate the opposites passes and make a quick intervention. Fouls a lot because of this, but nothing malicious. Dangerous on set pieces (he's a forward by trade). Weaknesses : not so fast (obvious for a man of his height), and his passing leaves to be desired. - Koreniuk : mostly a LW, Koreniuk is paradoxical : he's looking like a strong man but is actually fast and can beat players one on one. Surely the sharpest player in the final third for Los Dos. His weakness : trying too hard things and losing too much possession sometimes. To resume : he's got the tricks, he will improve, but he has to get the brain. - Tchilao : he's all about speed, but doesn't beat a lot of defenders anyway, terrible in the final third, not a good soccer IQ. I guess if we go to a full reserve lineup : Lampson/Vom Steeg Romney THA DePuy Traore Carrasco Corona Cuello E. Alvarez Zubak Koreniuk/Boateng That said, I'm worried where the goals will come from with this team.
Seems like this could get kind of ugly unless their players are tired and don't care while our players are trying to impress GBS and playing extremely hard Xolos going with a near 1st Team Starting XI tonight. #LeaguesCup— LA Galaxy Rumors (@LAG_Rumors) July 24, 2019 If you are wondering why Xolos are putting out a near 1st Team lineup, it’s because the Liga MX commissioner told all participating Liga MX teams that they have to.— LA Galaxy Rumors (@LAG_Rumors) July 24, 2019
I for one won't judge if you choose sleep over a pretty meaningless match between our subs and their starters.
It would be a huge success for us tonight if we got some promising striker play out of anyone not named Zlatan. Something that might help going forward.
Very offensive lineup. I guess Carrasco as a DM, Cuello and Alvarez at CAM, Koreniuk and Boateng on the wings.
Wow, I didn't even realize we were playing until I was randomly flipping through my guide and there we are! I'll tune in for awhile at least. I hope we win!
