Could have been a better result.

Weak link is still the defense, even if we qualify for the playoffs it will be hard to make a deep run with this these defenders.

A point and better than nothing which Galaxt came close to achieving. DCU next and hopefully we bet some players back from dl. Rooney wont be available and the way both teams are playing we probably wont have to deal with wayne until next year.

    Yep.

    Needless penalty, horrible miss.

While I'd have grudgingly taken the point at the start, we gave this away needlessly.

Agree with folks' posts. I was happy to see the Galaxy handling 3-1 for a good chunk of time before we decided to cede the midfield and our defense went a-shambles.

Yup, BJIV with a stinker, but wasn't good to see Pedro and Kitchen behind plays either. Ciani had a couple of moments of brilliance, and then the PK. Skjelvik not good either (Romney the best of the three which is a bit shocking). Cole with that BRILLIANT pass to BJIV, but also got beat down the left.

    Fragile defense is right.

Alessandrini looks to be better again and Zlatan with another brace I will take!

Hoping the injuries aren't terrible. Come back soon guys.

Oh, and Mexico can hurry up and fall out of the WC so we can get JDS back. Thanks.

Disappointed we didn't get the win despite leading twice, but a tie away under the circumstances is not the worst possible result. SJ are terrible, but they got up for this one in front of their big crowd and in rivalry matches all bets are off. This one felt much more like a clasico than the match at SHC. Worst part is giving Wondo two free goals so he could act like a smug asshole for sinking two penalties (and actually having one saved) while our guys actually scored 3 spectacular goals.

Maybe the moment was too big for BJIV. He had an awful night, unfortunately. Pointless and bad fouls (including the one leading to the penalty) and a truly terrible miss. Like, almost anything other than what he did would've been better. Gotta bounce back and keep on trucking.

I think Kitchen had a good game, and has been solid for the last month or so.

Joao Pedro is just meh, he's completely useless in this team with Jona coming back soon. He needs to go this summer.

Priority number 1 for this transfer window : sign at least one defender, maybe two. Then if you can find a competent replacement to Gio (which is a possibility in the summer transfer window), sell him.

Agree with your analyses completely. But be careful what you wish for - remember JDS comes attached to his brother. :(

As far as this game -

    The Bad:
BJIV was the goat but our real problem is - as it's been for a couple years now- our lack of quality defenders. Skjelvik continues to play soft (for a cb) and make costly positioning mistakes, Ciani's inconsistency rears its head again and Cole continually backs off his defenders letting them cross the ball at will. And all of these guys are backed up by a suspect goalie. No lead will ever be safe until we upgrade our players in the back. Sigi has to bring in defensive reinforcements in the summer transfer window or else our season is toast.

Our midfield continues to be a sieve. Even poor teams run through our midfield like it's not even there.

    The Good:
Great to see the old pacy, confident Alessandrini back.

And what can I say about the amazing Zlatan?! Both of his goals would be goals of the month -- if fair voting was the decider.

I would say our results against SJ (win at home, tie on the road) are consistent with what this team is— a team just below the playoff cut off line. We get results against the weakest teams and struggle against most of the teams in playoff spots.

To be more specific, we have a 4-5 playoff seed offense and a challenging for the wooden spoon defense.

I also took a look at the team passing stats and they were woeful (65% which isn't our norm). I think that's partially due to a bunch of players that normally don't play together, but the midfield was NOT good about keeping the ball. Defense was bad about boot ball too. That could be the pressure of the Classico as well.

This is where JDS helps us, though @skydog is right about what comes with him.

So in taking a look at how we played, a point feels fair.

I've watched the replay and quite frankly I'm sad I'll never get 2 hrs of my time back, the dream of World Cup football is getting closer to it's climax and the reality of what I just wasted time on is gonna set in. :( Qatar is gonna be a very long wait.

I chalk it up to rivalry match and a little hangover from the time off.
