I had heard that his play level had fallen off, but yikes, it has fallen off. Good for us and nice reverse jinx there.
and so our sorry butts are above the line of death. I would mention something about Dallas but I dont even want to think about that right now. One game at a time...
Debbie Downerism aside. We beat the despised San Jose. We’ve lost to them with much better teams in the past so I’m not going to get too down on this result.
Very glad to watch two wins, two great goals, and two shutouts. Well done, team, and well done to us for hanging in there. I think progress was made this week. The defense gelled a bit, and even Kitchen had a bit more consistency. Definitely the Skjelvik/Ciani/Bingham spine performed well. Romney is also very useful and Klimenta didn't die. I thought Ola had a very good game, and I like what Jona is providing. Romain really vindicated himself, and rewarded Sigi for keeping him in the full 90. There was a time back in the middle ages when an American striker taunted his coach in Germany by pointing to his watch. I could almost picture that happening today. Ema was an effective second half sub, especially giving him the whole half. Onward without Jona and Ola! I don't know why Mexico would call in Gio, though.
I will gouge my eyes out with you. Apart from a moment of brilliance from Romain, that was pathetic Why am I paying to watch a team with no system at all? Surely in 2018 the LA Galaxy should know what they want to do as an organization and as a team - this is pub league stuff. My girls U14 team has a better game plan then this. Fire Sigi, fire Klein.
I've ragged on Bingham and Ciani in the past so I want to give them credit when they have good games. Fantastic save by Bingham earned us 3 points and prevented a disastrous result. And Ciani had a very solid game. Other random thoughts: I love Romney at left back. He provides more consistent and tighter defense than Cole. Unfortunately Romney isn't as good as a right back. Maybe he'll improve if that is where he ends up. It was a mistake starting Pontius over Ema. As someone else said our midfield is too slow already too afford the luxury of starting him. He should be a late game sub. Glad Sigi woke up to this at minute 45. In the final third we look like the Keystone Kops. Players making the same runs, running into each other. As someone else said - do we even practice? Not a good sign when we end up with only 1 shot on goal -- at home -- against a team that had already coughed up 22 goals in 11 games. Great shot by Alessandrini and as @Berks said it was a major frustration relieving shot. I don't know if it's age or a cumulative result of injuries but Romaine doesn't have the quickness he had last year. He's really struggling to beat players 1v1. Speaking of struggling - Da Boy. Not sure he and Romaine should play together. They both like to dribble through players but our need is for more playmaking. What a surprise that Kitchen unnecessarily gave up a dangerous free kick at the top of the box late in the game. Oh wait, he does that every game. Of course Ema did the same thing and it almost cost us the win. But then Ema single handedly created the chance that won the game so he's mostly forgiven. Yes JDS could play better but he's still a workhorse out there. He was all over the field showing for every pass. Incredible workrate. Kamara obviously has athleticism and is a committed finisher. But watching him play soccer is like watching a colt learn how to stand. We aren't a very good team yet. Even at home against a crappy team we needed some luck to win - that was a pretty clear handball. So I'm really glad we got it done - we can't afford to not pick up points from the weaker teams.
We'd be better if for every third pass inor around the box, we just shot instead. Trying to pass the ball in the net can be counter-productive for teams that pass the ball well. We don't. I would say good work rate from the players tonight. JDS seems to be on a mission to prove he gives a crap.
I missed it,.too late for me to watch (daddy was sleepy). Glad we got three points, and happy for Romain to end goalscoring drought. And of course glad we beat the NorCal scum.
Once again whoscored ratings Hm Dave Romney had the highest score, even higher than Romain (and they give a huge boost to the goalscorer)
