Zardes is looking like someone who should take his degree and get behind a desk. The football pitch is not looking like a preferred place in life.
"I’m the leader of the team and if guys aren’t…I’m the leader of the team and I have to make substitutions to get our group to where it needs to be."
Legit don't get this team. Bruce puts together some teams that play stunning soccer, but can't but wins on the road. Then Curt comes in and sucks it up especially at home but keeps winning on the road. I still don't think Curt is a good coach and he's backed his way into a successful line up. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing. Maybe this season is less 2007/08 and more 2005.
Great result! Great first 45. Really lucky in second half. Rowe was great. Gio was much more engaged then usual. Nice to see mendiola again. Was that Jamie villareal's MLS debut? That being said, I just don't get the coaching at times. From minute 50 till their goal the game was screamed for a change in tactics or personnel and it just feels like our coaching staff doesn't know how to influence the game in those situations. Ema come no off first again lol I don't know why Zardes stayed on past minute 55. So clearly ineffective and tentative. Would have like to see mcinery come in for a decent stretch. Romney really struggles at right back. Obviously we have few options today...that said we are very strong on set pieces when steers and Romney are on the field. Poor Baggio. That field looks awful. Anyway, all that matters is to win so full credit. If you think about it, we've been really good on the road this entire season. Even some of the losses we've at least tried to play. Really refreshing and an improvement from recent years.
Unfortunately, even if we lose the next two, I think the FO uses these two road wins as an excuse to ride with Onalfo for the whole season.
You just know after this Curt is going to screw it up by benching Rowe for Diop & inserting Jones when fit.
Actually he keeps screwing it up by keeping Pedro in the line-up. A total waste. I guess I am the only one who noticed that Pedro was the one with the skyball header that led to the MNFC goal. Looking forward to Jones and Garcia.
On the subject of Ema being subbed out. I wonder if he is on some hard limitation (e.g. miles run, heartrate, etc) that the Galaxy bench is using to remove him from the game. At times it makes no apparent tactical sense and its not always like he is playing tired.
Nothing really to add, except for stating the obvious, Curt IS GOD'S Father...2 road wins in a row?!?!
I don't think its that. He's one of the youngest players on the team and seems quite healthy. Plus Onalfo chose to not even start him in one game already despite playing great in the previous game. For some reason Boateng is just low on the totem pole for Curt. Remember this is the coach who thought Garcia was the answer at right back.
That said, I like Garcia in central mid. I mean he's not MLS starter quality but a solid option there.
With the salary cap what it is, he is the perfect guy to have on the bench for when you need him (for instance, today).
at this point, I think Gyasi needs to sit. Give McInerney a shot, or one of the kids BJIV or Lassiter, but Gyasi just isn't showing enough right now. I thought Rafa did a decent job tonight, and as long as we're giving the kids a shot, give Mendiola some more time too. We can't get Lletget back fast enough. But I also thought Pedro was once again solid. All in all, great result. I would not have believed we could possibly get 6 points out of this road trip at the half of that chicago game, but glad to see things beginning to click
You may be the only one who noticed the sky ball. You may also be the only one looking forward to Jones getting back on the field.
