And so the Rapids and Sounders meet again. This time the Rapids will be playing with the "home field advantage" at the "Rocky Mountain Fortress" we've all heard so much about. Temperature forecast puts kickoff around 35-32 degrees with a 90% chance of precipitation. Ref Assignments: Interesting things of note: Seattle has won each of their last 5 games against the Rapids, with an average of 2.8 goals per game Seattle is 3W-1T-0L for their last four away games Rapids are 6W-2T-22L all time against Seattle Club Comparison so far this season (per MLS): Rapids 1.8 goals per game 2.7 goals against 80% passing 13.8 shots per game 11.7 shots against 45% possession Seattle 2.8 goals per game 1.5 goals against 84% passing 14.4 shots 7.4 shots against 57% possession Who's ready for a good old fashioned drubbing?
I’m just going to watch Jordan Morris and because I have these pesky season tickets that are burning a hole in my pocket LOL
To be honest, the worse the weather, the better for the Rapids. They have zero chance on a good pitch, nice day. But in 40 MPH winds with an orange ball...well, they still get beat, but probably by one instead of three. I could see Kamara scoring--he was a warrior in the last snowstorm.
Wednesday night, cold, windy, precipitation, lousy home team. Announced attendance: 10,731, actual attendance: 4,349?
Getting word MLS will not suspend Wayne Rooney any additional matches for Saturday's red card vs LAFC. He will serve his automatic one-game ban tonight vs Montreal and return this weekend at Colorado. #mls #dcu— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) April 9, 2019
Right now the forecast for Commerce City from 6pm-9pm tomorrow night is Blizzard. If that doesn't change by mid-morning I don't see how they can do anything else but postpone the game to some time later this season. They can't have players, employees, and fans driving to the stadium during a blizzard.
Hearing from reliable sources (as are others, based on Facebook posts) that tomorrow's game is off and will be rescheduled for Sept.
Given the forecast, this would be the correct call for the players, officials and fans. Given that the climate/weather is getting more unpredictable all the time it would be good for MLS to have a protocol in place for rescheduling and be willing to pull the plug on a match well in advance. I get that it's hard with the compressed MLS schedule as it is, but safety should come first.
I think 24 hours (give or take) is enough notice, especially for an area like Denver in the spring where the forecast 3 days before the event and the day before the event could be wildly different.
Given current form, any delay that will give the team time to find a defender with two useable legs would be a godsend.
Tonight’s match with @SoundersFC has been postponed to September 7 due to inclement weather. 📝 https://t.co/sQ1xOUkudH#Rapids96 | #Elevate pic.twitter.com/7W7kzc4jJE— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) April 10, 2019
I'm Ok with them pressing through weather for the home opener, on a Saturday, etc... but not for a Wednesday game that is not the home opener. It is what it is...
Given our current form, I’ll count this as our first (unofficial) win of the season. Virtually zero chance of victory tonight. At least we can apply the “maybe we’ll be better by Sept. 7th” perspective now. If the question is “beat me now or maybe beat me later,” I will always chose later.
BREAKING NEWS: I am not playing in anymore snowy weather Colorado 🥶🥶🥶 so I have asked for the game to be cancel tonight. YOU’RE WELCOME. Stay home #NetflixAndChill 🤗😘 pic.twitter.com/Oa3z7st74V— KEI KAMARA (@keikamara) April 10, 2019
