And so, the Rapids head east to meet Orlando City. Yet another "FC" in the MLS....people sure seem to love their acronyms in this league. Let us not forget that Orlando was one of the two teams that finished below the Rapids last year, so it shall definitely an interesting game! Ref Assignments: Will Shane O'Neill be filled with fire as he plays against his former team? Will Luis Almeida score against our makeshift backline as the crowd sings "Nani Nani, Nani Nani, Hey Hey Hey, Goodbye" to our once 'promising' coach? Will Kei Kamara score another Hat Trick against Orlando? For those of us who are gluttons for punishment, I'd recommend you tune in at 7:30pm ET. otherwise, I guess I'll be singing the following to myself as the Titanic seems to be nearing the Iceberg:
I think there’s a chance for the Rapids to be in the better end of a trap game in FL. Half-trap sees a 2-2 draw with the Rapids throwing everything they have at the attack as they’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain from playing hard.
So, worst case: Kamara - Shinyashiki Mezquida Bassett - Price Feilhaber Wynne - Opare - Sjoberg - Serna Howard We're f'ed.
Although recently ours may have been gold foil over chocolate (or some other brown semi-solid substance) i.e. less than double digits. Irony or accuracy? https://www.coloradorapids.com/awards/goldenboot
I heard Owen Goal just got signed to bolster the Rapids Central Defense.....maybe he'll get the start. Supposedly he was quite prolific scoring in the Pre-Season........
On the road, with key players injured, and in a formation that other teams have used for an expressway? If the Rapids win this game, O'Connor and his entire coaching staff should be fired.
Or maybe less funny, Owen Goal leads the Rapids in Goals scored this year with three. Kamara is second, with two.........I cannot think of anything profound to say in observing this point.
Wait, wait, wait, stop me if you've heard this one before: https://www.denverpost.com/2019/04/05/rapids-roster-shakeup-orlando-city/
Crap. Not again. We truly are the land of the MLS cursed. Thank God Colorado is a great state for many other reasons. Rod.
Another thought. What is Hudson's revelation is to play price as defensive mid. And the rest in their normal spots. That would be a change.
2-1 loss, goal by Kamara. I can't predict a win after last week's shellacking. With the long road trip and the missing players I don't even see a draw. Maybe this senior player discussion they had this week kick starts the team but I'm not going to predict it until I see it. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2019/04/its-time-for-mickey-moue-soccer.html
Anthony Hudson said. “Last Saturday exposed two or three key areas we have to fix defensively. There will be some changes in personnel and a progression in style.” So the repeated failure was not due to tactics, but personnel issues - players not following the plan, etc.? There will be a new 18-man gameday roster and lineup Saturday at Orlando City, and the style should be more focused on attacking. That should take advantage of the Rapids’ key offseason additions, strikers Diego Rubio and Kei Karma. “Last Saturday exposed two or three key areas we have to fix defensively. There will be some changes in personnel and a progression in style.” So there's going to be a number of new players in the 18? I'm trying to figure out who that would be. Sebastian Anderson? Sam Vines? Kofi Opare? Are these guys gonna start? And who is Hudson blaming for the issues with defending last weekend? Serna? But if we have the right plan and processes, we’ll get more right than we get wrong. And that will lead to the sustainable success we want to bring to the Rapids.” So between trusting the process and "total football" how long is it going to take before we see the sustainable success? This is really wearing thin. It's as if they are ready to sacrifice another season to the process - while also waiting for the new DPs and other signings.
Aren't a lot of the on the injury report listed as "questionable?" It seems that some of them may be on the pitch.
Man, this whole Rapids thing is getting depressing. I’m gonna stick to the top notch, keen musical references on this thread to keep it light... with a particular kudos solely for the Head East reference. ;-)
Prediction: Orlando 2-0 Rapids Orlando are not that great, pretty average, ho hum. Rapids are just plain bad.
