The Rapids travel to Atlanta to play the 5 stripes and their stupid recent championship. Game is 4/27/2019, Saturday, at 4PM. In an NFL stadium. Maybe they'll allow field goals. Predictions, thoughts, wit, and despair can be discussed here.
Interesting thing of note...Kei Kamara has scored as many goals as Atlanta has scored as a team. So, if they score, that means Kei scores. Which means we are guaranteed to tie or win this one right? Ha. Who am I kidding...

Josef Martinez scares me. He's looked just the right amount of pissed off and annoyed the last few games to take it out on our porous defense. You know he's licking his chops. There's potential for him to make our defense his bitch. That's always the case but Martinez has looked poised for a "bounce back" game. Edit: Great....... just as I typed my response MLS has an article up on Martinez and his "slump". That means he's definitely about to break out of it. F***. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...truggles-continue-fdb-insists-hes-not-worried
Consider us the "slump-busters". We are good for what ails our competition. Many have busted slumps against us.
To crank it up a notch... We're amazing at ending opponent slumps, at home or away. That's a given. But, under Mr. Hudson's leadership in MLS, we're especially awesome at contributing to opponent celebrations by managing to lose about 72% of our MLS road matches overall. Anthony is 2-15-4 in MLS away matches. And in 2019, el zippo points have been tallied on the road. So, as of now in 2019, Anthony loses an awesomely awesome 100% of his road matches. If you're an opponent supporter, this is what dreams are made of. Given this knack for being party catalysts in every city we visit (for players and opponent supporters alike), shouldn't we be getting some kind of entertainment kickback tax from opponent clubs and fanbases?... You know, cuz we provide this wonderful service of boosting opponent morale, creating a party atmosphere, elevating their playoff hopes, etc. This is so altruistic and kind. You'd think we get some revenue from the service, no? Having said that... Do you remember how freaked out and intimidated the Pids looked in Seattle earlier this year when they got royally rolled right out of the gate in the first 20 minutes? ... you know, at a large NFL stadium, with a huge MLS crowd, on artificial turf? Remember that? Well, what MLS atmosphere most closely matches that of Seattle? Um yea. That one place down south. So, with the aforementioned Martinez slump pendulum poised to swing back with pent up force, and with the friendly confines and deathly quiet crowd at ATL, I'm wondering if Anthony should be wearing an adult diaper for that first 20 minutes on Saturday... just in case. Who knows, maybe de Boer truly has sunk ATL and the Burgundy boys will hold their own. But man, with our away game record, our recent form, and the ATL environs for rattling weak opponents, this cowboy aint' feelin' too good about Saturday.
Chicago had only scored 8 goals in 6 matches before the Rapids handed them 4 goals in one match. To top that off, Chicago didn't score in the match played after our match. Orlando City has scored 8 goals in 7 matches against other teams, but 4 goals against the Rapids. Houston has scored a respectable 9 goals in 5 matches against other teams, but 4 goals against the Rapids. This match really is Atlanta United versus Colorado Untied. With a midfield that can't contain or disrupt attacks and a back line that ball-watches and yields (and occasionally is anchored by Owen Goal), this match could easily double Atlanta's goal total. Remember, the Rapids are on pace to give up 98 goals despite Tim Howard saving the bacon several times every match. That said, Kamara alone seems to know how to find the opponent's net. #HudsonOut
Their next opponent after Atlanta is the Harlem Globetrotters. The Washington Generals’ defense is too good.
After last week, I wouldn’t predict the Rapids against a minor league team. 3-1 loss, goal on an own goal. And go Avs.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a “6”! Can we get a “7” from anyone? How bout a “7”? 7, 7, 7... ? Going once, going twice...
3-1 loss, goal by Kamara. I really can't predict anything but a loss with multiple goals allowed until the team proves they can do something other than that. Only once this season have we given up less than 1 goal, only twice have we managed not to lose. Tomorrow will be more of the same. http://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2019/04/colorado-marches-on-atlanta-tomorrow.html
If Atlanta is true to form we will hit the woodwork 5 times and not score and you'll sneak one past our bald keep and win 1-0. That said, I think the ball finally bounces our way and we win 3-1. Thanx for the link.
My biggest fear is Tim Howard relives that historic match he had vs Belgium and Brad Guzan is... well Brad Guzan 2019. I'd wish you guys good luck today, but we really need the 3 points.
You have have them, we have transformed past being a point-seeking, cup-winning organization to something other clubs can only dream of....
