Overwatch, Blizzard's first new IP in almost two decades, hit stores in the last week.

What are your thoughts on it?

Enjoying it on the XBone so far. Like the variety of the heroes you can use, which helps keep it fresh. It'd be nice if the maps had a variety of modes that could be played on them, instead of just one each.

    Here's my top 5:

    Lucio
    Symmetra
    Pharah
    Torbjorn
    Winston

    And at the very bottom....

    Bastion

Seriously. The walking turret can go to hell.

I play Lúcio, D.Va, Mercy the most. Junkrat and Reinhardt round out my top 5.

I had a Lúcio match that made me feel like a pro recently - on Ilios I knocked 8 opponents off the map. Four of them into the 'Sparta' pit in that round... but the cherry on top was getting knocked into the pit twice and skating out on both occasions. We actually lost that round but won 2x1.

For Bastion: granted, he can be frustrating, but he is easy to counter.

On Route 66 this past weekend I played a match against 5 Bastions. We had one Genji on our team, two more switched to Genji and suddenly we were moving very quickly and each Bastion was basically killing himself.

I am awful with Genji, but knowing he's a counter I switched to him and managed to kill some with deflect. (I really want to get better with Genji but I'm not good with twitchy characters, but still, against Bastion E is all you need. If on top of that you use his movement well, you can own all the opposing Bastions.)

Also, Junkrat is great against Bastions and Torbjorn turrets in corners. Or against any of those if Junkrat can lob his grenades from behind cover.

For a team based game I've yet to hit that wall where I feel like I'm at a disadvantage playing with random people. Wonder if it is due to the fact that the focus of the matches is completing/defending an objective instead of just racking up as many kills as possible. Trying to get just the right squad make up based on the objective and set up of the other team is pretty cool aspect of the game and glad it translates well to voiceless communication.

Was going to post a GoT related play of the game then thought better of it since this is not a GoT [R] Spoilers thread... but there are some amazing "play of the game"s to be found out there.

    Here's a sampling

    HA! At the Tic-Tac-Toe one.

Did competitive play go live on the PC yet?

Live on the PC as of today. Sounds like the console patches are done as well, but they have to go through the Microsoft and Sony QA processes, so they'll be next week before they're released.

They're going to rank everyone from 1-100 based on their skill level. I think there's a limit to how much of a gap you can have between players in a group, so here's hoping I can stay high enough to keep playing with my friends.

Man, that last clip looks like the origin story for Planet of the Apes.

Can't decide yet how I feel about the competitive mode. Your ranking basically goes up or down depending on if you win or not. Which I get, since it's a team game, but it can get frustrating when you feel like you do your part but since your teammates didn't do theirs you're getting penalized for it. And I can win several games before I rank up enough to go up a level, but lose once and I go down a whole level right there. If level 50 is supposed to be "average", then I'm well below average it seems. Still having fun, but it's been a humbling experience to be sure.

Blizzard has said they expect to go through several iterations before they get competitive just right. I believe it.

I am excited to see how the no hero stacking rule feels in competitive play. Saw a lot of teams doubling up on Winstons last weekend.

That may be the best video they've done yet.

Interesting. Just in time for season 2 of competitive.

If you enjoy team based PvP it's worth a look. I'm still putting a decent amount of time in it.
