I stopped caring about the 2019 MLS season on October 6 so, as far as I'm concerned, the season is over.
True, having Ciara, Macklemore, Russel Wilson and Drew Carey is great. Its even better when they come to the supporters pub, buy rounds for us and drink with us. Always makes for good stories and exposure to people who aren't necessarily even sports fans.
Saw Seattle's go ahead goal then went to bed. Glad LA lost. Garber still isn't getting his NY & LA final!!!!!
The announcers didn't seem to know what to say. They continued to refer to Fake Club as "the greatest team in MLS" -- maybe reading from a script that didn't allow for divergent scenarios?
last year watching the playoffs was a chore. Boring, low scoring 2 leg series. This year with every game single elimination it's much more fun to watch. Seeing LAFC lose at home to a Seattle team that truly outplayed them when it mattered most was a tasty treat. The post game reporter asked Schmetzer how he feels after the win - Schmetzer says "I feel a lot better than Bob does". Oh man - I didn't know he was like that. The only thing I'm rooting for is Atlanta to lose. I'm afraid they're going to win it again. If they do, they will have won 3 trophies this year and came in 3rd overall in the regular season.
I’m thoroughly convinced that if you put CR7 or Leo Messi on any MLS club , there is no guarantee they would win an MLS CUP. Many people have laughed at that idea or notion but all evidence points towards that avenue. With Rooney, Ibra and Vela are all gone, sooner or later, teams will have to decide where their priorities are. Its either build a winner or to spend millions upon millions on superstars. ….
I think LAFC beats Seattle if regular season rules apply. Lot harder to score when you don't benefit from cheap foul calls and PKs.
F@#$ seattle!!!! and F!@#$ el-lay!!!! It's hard to give a squat when I hate every team in the playoffs. Oh wait! ... I haven't watched any part of any of the playoff games. I just keep catching the scores when I go to mlssoccer to see if anything meaningful is happening with OUR team. GO QUAKES!! - Mark
Yeah most of MLS never sees or cares about his post game press conferences but he has the potential to be the Jose Mourinho of MLS now that people are noticing.
Did I say that MLS wanted LAFC to win? I said some games are fixed. Maybe this game wasn't fixed. If on the other hand the game was fixed, maybe MLS wants to ensure that Atlanta hosts the final. Bigger stadium, after all. Or maybe Seattle's bribe was bigger.
Quakes' 2019 record against the finalists, a combined 1-1-1, with a win and a draw (both on the road), and a 0-1 home defeat in the dying moments. A tweak here and there and the Quakes can compete for a MLS Cup. At least that's what John Fisher is probably thinking.
From the Atlanta United board, in season postmortem: This is possibly my lowest moment as a sports fan. I could conjure having a 4-1 lead turning into 3-2 in a blink of an eye, or the all-time leading goal-scorer being given the only red card of his career -- while on the bench. But those don't compare to Wide Right or the Music City Miracle or losing a Stanley Cup on an illegal goal that won't be reviewed because it's the third overtime and the commissioner wants to go home to bed. Or, wait, losing my team to Houston after a conspiracy to remove the league's top player from its roster. Poor Dixie Hipster. Let's hope no marauding army ever burns your lovely stadium to the ground along with your whole city -- again. That would probably sting nearly as much as tonight's loss.
Wow. I haven't watched either conference final yet. But just wow. I'm really happy that Don Garber is running around Atlanta yelling, "Curses! Foiled again!"
