The lol is our group vs Inters. Count your blessings we drew CSKA and Plzen instead of Tottenham and PSV.
There was a play when he came out and dived for the ball at the end of penalty box before the attacker could reach it. All I could think was that this would have been 99% goal if Olsen was there twiddling his thumbs on the goal line.
Do you want to tell us that Inter's squad is equal or worse than PSV and Tottenham? Doesn't matter how much you like Spalletti, the truth is he is not an international level coach. He chokes a lot in Champions League
Let me guess - Zeman, Enrique and Garcia were ? Do not let your love for your " American Heroes " cloud your judgement. Spalletti has proven he is a good manager. Of course not a great one, but at least one who will get good results. He did reach the Quarter-finals twice with Roma. Believe it or not, Roma`s Semi-final last year was once in a life time. The truth hurts junior.
It would have been a great statement to see all four Italian teams progress, but more money for us and Juve. Now Monchi can buy two 20 year old strikers that we don't need next summer instead of just one.
I remember traditionally the UEFA Cup was a pretty prestigious and difficult competition. Not sure what happened , when it changed or why the Europa league doesn’t seem to get as much recognition. I’m sure there is substantial amount of TV , sponsors and prize money in the tournament. Maybe not like the CL but I’m thinking Inter and Napoli could both do very well in this competition.
Napoli deserved to qualify. They played good to be honest, Okey Mane missed those chances. But Calejjon had sitter in front of goal, he shot above bar. Milik missed a chance with huge save by Alisson. That save by Alisson , and goal by Salah qualified Liverpool via ex-roma players. Beside that, Napoli won the head to head with PSG via away goal. And drew head to head with Liverpool. So tough luck. For Inter, they didnt deserve to qualify at all. They were attacking PSV, and once they drew they did a huge coaching mistake and sat back defending draw. Once they got to know result of Barca game, they started attacking back. You deserve to go out if you cant beat PSV at home.
Napoli has to be one of the unluckiest teams in CL history. After their 12p exit a few years ago now this. Only one loss, last minute equalizer against PSG, getting thrown out by Liverpool on equal H2H&GD but less goals scored. Things like this always make me laugh about how we once qualified with only 6p. As for Inter: they totally deserved it. Does anyone know how much more we get now? The money from the marketing pool got cut down this season iirc.
Well, Napoli had to score just one goal and they failed. IMO, more than unlucky, that's a choke job by Ancelotti. Oh, and just read that Spalletti subbed in a defender for Politano when the game was 1-1, trying to hold on to that, knowing that Barca was winning vs Tottenham.
Doesn't matter tbh that was a nothing game same with Roma's. Maybe next year we'll get a shitty group but doubt it.
