Squid had a good idea. This is copying the guys at the Bayern Forum, but they do have the most active forum here, so I don't mind.

Practically every board has a "other teams" thread. Hell, we have one in Ecuador's boards for crying out loud!! We aren't copying Bayern.

We should have one here so we can discuss other teams amongst ourselves without derailing regular threads.

This way Squid can have at it! ;)

I wished there were other Hamburg fans to talk to

footyfan is doing a good job filling in on occasion, though.

Get over it. Shit, if we copied them more often instead of doing stupid shit, maybe we would f#cking win more.

For those interested in the CL Draw:

    Group A---------------Group B----------------Group C

    Chelsea----------------Inter Milan------------Barcelona
    AS Roma---------------Werder Bremen--------Sporting Lisbon
    Girondins Bordeaux------Panathinaikos---------FC Basel
    CFR Cluj----------------Anthorsis Famagusta--Shaktar Donezk

    Group D-----------------Group E-------------------Group F

    Liverpool---------------Manchester United--------Olympique Lyon
    PSV Eindhoven---------Villareal CF----------------Bayern München
    Olympique Marseille-----Celtic---------------------Steaua Bucharest
    Atletico Madrid---------Aalborg BK-----------------Fiorentina

    Group G---------------Group H

    Arsenal----------------Real Madrid
    FC Porto---------------Juventus
    Fenerbahce ------------Zenit St. Petersburg

I think Group D is the "Group of Death".

I guess I'll only try to see one match live at the Allianz Arena.

    Bayern v. Fiorentina

The computer will work out the group schedules for release later.

I agree with you about Group D being the toughest, but I like the match up happening in E. I hope Celtic win one of the two games against Man U. Would be glorious to watch.

lol, good comment I must say.

The groups look kind of watered down to me for some reason.

Anyway, I think bayern will go through. Those guys at their forum are being really pessimistic some of them. They will be fine I am very certain of that. I think bremen will be, but you never know with tim wiese ;)

I agree with eissman's last long comments. Some of them are too arrogant about it. It won't be easy for Bayern and they can certainly slip. I can easily see Fiorentina and Lyon both beating Bayern.

But Bayern could just as easily beat the both of them.

I don't know that Bayern will be "fine." They are in for a battle.

Bremen thought they were going to be "fine" last season too. Then they finished third, a full FIVE POINTS behind Olympiakos.

Neither German team is guaranteed anything. I hope and think they will both advance.

But I would not be shocked if both don't advance either.

I think bayern will be fine as in they will advance. But it sure won't be a cruise, hell no.

Bremen the same but less sure than with bayern because bayern have the ability to get the result at times better than bremen.

    And that's fine. We agree.

Really? Bayern has the ability to get the result at times better than Bremen?

Then why are they both winless so far this season??

in a greater context, especially in europe, bayern do better than bremen at getting a result don't they?

Neither one of them has done shit with the money on the line recently.

Bayern lucked out all the way to the UEFA Cup semi-final until their luck ran out last season with that 4-1 thrashing in St. Petersburg.

I know. I wasted money for tickets to see Bayern lucking out in the UEFA Cup last season.

And they aren't better this season. They might be worse.

And Bremen has always shit their pants in the CL. Always.

I'm gonna agree with the "maybe worse" part for Bayern as well as with Bremen players wondering what that smell is during a CL semi, until the check their shorts realizing these aren't grass and mud stains they are seeing.

so you reckon they are even? I think I'd still bet on bayern getting the result over bremen if they were to face the same opponent. If anything bayern's name might just scare the other team that bit while bremen's won't.

And that will be the ONLY thing they got going for them. And even that might not be enough nowadays. Talent is there, but they seem to lack direction still.

The only thing Bayern has that scares other clubs is Franck Ribery.

I thought Bayern's name might mean something in last season's UEFA Cup competition and no one I saw play them live ever backed down from them.

Zenit's thrashing of Bayern last season wasn't an aberration. It is what is happening to the "big" German "names" these days when comparable clubs from other nations actually stand up to them.

You would have thought that would have lit a fire under Bayern's management to go out and get some reinforcements for the CL this season.

But as I wrote over at the Bayern thread, I think they were so blinded by the "Ribery and Toni" show last season, they really thought they already had what it takes to take on the European elite.

Now that they see they do have problems, what do they do? They get rid of one of Germany's up and coming talents at outside defender (who they should have never bought anyhow, but they were greedy) and sign an Italian has-been who was destined to rot on AC Milan's bench this season.

I think Oddo will help them in the Bundesliga, but I think he will get his ass worn out in the Champions' League.

As I think FC Bayern will too. I think they have a great chance to get out of the group stage, but after that, I think they are dead meat.

I totally disagree with that. There were a couple of things not going Bayern's way back then, including (most importantly) Altintop's injury, Kahn's injury, Ribéry being overplayed because they were already far into the season unlike Zenit, finally Bayern's lower motivation to win the Uefa Cup. I know Bayern wasn't at their best at that time, it wasn't the same team that easily beat Schalke a few weeks before.

This year, though, Bayern's squad is weaker.
