Gotta be honest. Never have a said to my Frau..."hey lets go to Leipzig this weekend." Nor have I heard it from her.

 

Why not? It's a very beautiful city. Spent last NY there. Will likely go back. But I gotta go to Munchen as well. It's also a gorgeous city. Also I believe I have a stadium to trash over there.

 

Yes or any other random team in those cities. Leipzig really has nothing going on.

 

We're going to Dresden for Memorial Day weekend....or is it Labor Day? Whatever the 4 day is at the end of this month.

 

No idea. But next weekend is Pfingsonntags und Pfingsmontag. Es gibt kein mehr Feiertage im Mai.

How quickly people forget the glorious 1st league career of eastern giant Energie Cottbus...

But it's tough to consider RB a true eastern side, when the defining aspect of so many eastern clubs is their shared history with their supporters and roots beyond football. RB can't buy this, so they'll never feel like an "eastern" team to me. They're just another 1st league plastic now.

 

For what it's worth Ingolstadt was more attractive in the 2nd division than the 1st. They were never pretty, but their promotion campaign was reasonably easy on the eyes. So I can see the thinking for RB being that 1) he can solidify them in the first league with a defensive style if things go badly, and 2) he can coach a more attractive style of play if they give him more talent to work with than he had at FC Audi.

I like Leipzig, it's great. I haven't been to too many other places in the East, except for Goerlitz which is lovely also. I'm going to Germany at the end of the year and plan on visiting Dresden and for some reason Rostock. Should be great!
