In an interview on El Larguero on Cadena Ser, the Spain international said it's a shame the Catalan club are losing so many youngsters. "We’re seeing a lot of kids leaving [La Masia] and, in my opinion, that’s a shame because I think [Barça] are losing the philosophy of the academy a little," he told Cadena Ser. "Of course they’re still one of the world leaders in producing players, but years ago they were using those players in the first team more regularly. "When I was there, we even had a whole side made up of La Masia graduates; it’s difficult to see that happening again today." The forward added: It’s tough to play for Barça -- and Real Madrid -- when you’re a homegrown player, but I think the level is there for the players to play and, above all, be trusted."
