Only those German-Americans weren’t that good and if they were, they would choose to play for Germany. Jermaine Jones was the only good player but when he got too old, they had no one else to take his spot.
Don't worry. Soon we'll all see how wrong we were and how right someone was as Italy fall behind the Americans.
Right, because Italy never developed hustlers with guts. Let's forget about the likes of Zambrotta, Perrotta, Gattuso, Di Livio, Di Biaggio, DDR. It just never happened. Like the Germans we should just focus on athleticism, because that's what they did, I think, right?
Jermaine Jones actually played in the Germany youth teams and had 3 caps for Germany's first team. Not sure how he was allowed to switch but FIFA allowed it right before he turned 28. I think he saw he wouldn't be getting any more chances for Germany that is why he chose the USA....Thomas Dooley was a good one in the days before MLS.....
Michael Bradley is.... useless 😫 pic.twitter.com/57Ujw5rwSE— Julian Niggeman (@julian_niggeman) July 1, 2019
Would have been safer staying in Italy and going to play for Chievo instead of taking early retirement.
I agree that now, at least on the national team, Bradley is useless. He may have improved staying at Chievo but I doubt he will have lasted beyond his 30th birthday. He wouldn't have ever made as much money anywhere in Europe as he has in Toronto.... 2014= $ 6,500,000 2015= $ 6,500,000 2016= $ 6,500,000 2017= $ 6,500,000. 2018= $ 6,500,000. 2019 =$ 6,428,571 Especially since his national team days may be numbered , after making $39 million in the last 6 years, I actually think he made the right decision.
Like Jovinko, he made the right decision financially and career wise both choosing a league that was right for their skill set. Making bank was just a bonus.
Giovinco also made a killing in Canada. Meanwhile..... Giovinco, Manning not ruling out Toronto FC return
Sure, he took the easy route and a paycheck. He was always kinda shit but slightly improving. Then he became really shit since moving back playing against Serie C teams in the prime of his career.
I think any average or even good player would take that kind of money as opposed to playing for Chievo and fighting not to be relegated on a yearly basis before his 30th BD. Bradley will have been a fool to leave that cash on the table. Unless he was really good to begin with, then he would be making the equivalent to what TFC paid him on a better team but that is far from reality. As it is, I believe he is now in the final year of his contract at 31 years of age but he at least has the money in the bank to fall back on. He wouldn't even have made 1/3 had he stayed in Europe from age 26-30.
Fun times in Spain. Atletico supposedly have proof that Griezmann signed a deal with Barca all the way back in March. On top of that, his release clause was 200 million before July 1 and 120 million. Barca only paid 120.
I don’t understand how that matters if his release clause dropping was public knowledge? If they learned of it through Griezmann them sure but if they were always going to trigger the release clause I don’t see what the big deal is.
