I don't think anyone is a fan of FieldTurf....

But as the great Mick Jagger once said....

"You can't always get what you want....."

BTW, Gerry the GM is at it down it Piscataway....

Sky Orange signed Swedish National Team forward Jessica Landström and the Finnish Finisher Laura Osterberg Kalmari...

GM Gerry, If I see that on a T-Shirt ticket pack, finnish fan night I want full credit!!

FC Gold Pride has acquired 2009 WPS All-Star Camille Abily, the team announced Thursday.

The Pride will also obtain LA's No. 20-overall pick in the 2010 WPS Draft. In return, the Sol will get Tina DiMartino (No. 3-overall draft selection in 2009) and the No. 14-overall pick. That gives LA the No. 5, 8, 9, 14 and 22-overall draft picks.

    Wow.

    +3.

8 goals, 1 assist for 0 goals, 1 assist. How does that make sense. That better be one hella international defender.

    wow.wow.wow.

Bad news for WPS...and the women that were going to fill the bottom portions of all the rosters...

Sad for LA and their supporters...

But, moving forward....Nogueira, DiMartino or Miyama???

It's clear to me that Uncle Phil need not worry about WPS renaming their trophy after him.

Agreed on all counts. For Boston & your particular needs? Depends on whether the 5 international limit stays or not. I'd think Washington or Bock might be your best fit.

And if I had that sort of money, I'd buy the team wholesale and relocate them to my fair city.

Is it really too much to dream of a front four of Marta, Cheney, Smith, and Lilly?:D

    Karina? I'd also love Miyama.

I didn't see this coming. Not good at all.

That would be an embarassment of riches. But probably unlikely with the Breakers picking at #5 in the first round of the dispersal draft next Thursday, a full contingent of internationals and with some considerable cap pressures already from our offseason moves to date (Osborne, Cheney, Weimer, etc. and a few more in the works*).

    Dispersal Draft Order

*A few have asked and I can now confirm that we have begun promising conversations with the agent for Spanish international Laura Del Rio, who left her German club, Frankfurt, last week. The Breakers acquired Del Rio's rights last month by trading a 3rd round pick in the recent WPS draft to the Sol. Del Rio led the W-League with 18 goals in 11 games for FC Indiana last summer.

We have also agreed to terms with Fabiana on her return for the 2010 season.

I am sorry to see the Sol go. Anyone with fond memories of the first Breakers season in WPS will remember the two spectacular games against LA at Harvard Stadium - one electrifying win and one heartbreaking loss - before big crowds. We'll see those great matches and crowds again to watch other rivals and other stars - Solo, Wambach, #%#!* Sky Blue, and wherever Marta lands this season. And we'll mostly do it on weekends, since an eight-team league will reduce the weekend byes and the resulting need for a lot of those Wednesday nights.

The Breakers are in good shape. In fact, we're hiring. Season tickets are up, despite RevsFan's annual Favre-esque will-he-or-won't-he hold out.

PM me on BigSoccer or email me at acrossley@bostonbreakers.com with your prediction (or preference) for our dispersal selection at #5. Prizes (good ones) will be provided for any accurate prognosticators.

Why would you give up 2 young national team players for soon to be 33 year old Shannon Box. That makes no sense.
