Yeah, Seattle and LAFC both tied, which is good for us. Houston won, though, which means for now they move into first place on PPG with us in second....
Done deal. ✍️@TimbersFC acquire Brian Fernandez as a DP. https://t.co/S5kCHhvJNX pic.twitter.com/5KgnFgQi7O— Major League Soccer (@MLS) May 6, 2019
I'm told Justin Meram is on the move, hearing #Crew96 is working on a deal to send him to Atlanta United #UniteAndConquer . No word on the price. Meram would give Atlanta some midfield depth while Ezequiel Barco is at the Under-20 World Cup, and beyond. #MLS— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) May 7, 2019 Hearing the allocation money component in the Justin Meram deal is 100k of GAM headed to #Crew96 from #ATLUTD.— Jeff Carlisle (@JeffreyCarlisle) May 7, 2019 Meram's value has dropped significantly From me and @samstejskal: Multiple sources say the Colorado Rapids are set to acquire #USMNT winger Jonathan Lewis from #NYCFC for a substantial haul of allocation money.— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) May 7, 2019 Glad Lewis finally goes to a team that can use him. I would love to see Wolf get the Rapids job. They have some good pieces
I think their owner is realizing that he is going to have to be more hands on if he wants this to have a happy ending.
And Friedel is out. Is that the third head coach dismissed this season? New England, Cincinnati and … ?
I have a soft spot for Friedel because of his time at Spurs, but let’s just say I’m glad he wasn’t part of any conversation around the Galaxy or post-playing career Spurs.
Bruce takes over as New England's manager and GM. I think this might turn New England around. Bruce knows what it takes to win in this league, and he has an eye for talent. Might take a year or two for them to get competitive, but I think this is smart. I know a lot of people will cite his USA stint and he does deserve blame for that, but the players also did him no justice.
Bruce has had good years and bad years but his good years greatly outweigh his bad ones. And I think of Bruce as a great program builder. Hopefully he is hired for that rather than an instant turn around.
I feel glad for Bruce, but the Kraft's are terrible owners from a soccer perspective; kind of the opposite of Phil Anschuts. This has all the makings of a hire for publicity purposes.
I think Bob is in damage control mode. His reputation definitely took a hit because of the solicitation case. Even if he is acquitted, everyone still knows he was videoed in the act and paying for it. I am sure we will also see an uptick in reputation rebuilding acts.
