Nah, that's just pathetic "It really ain't Kraft" kraftiness. The Revs shafted themselves all by their lonesome. What LA graciously did is say "enough of this crap", while capping the Revs at the knee. Who knew that the Rev apologists would then suggest that but for that knee-capping, by gum golly, they would have won the race.?.....
The more ambitious owners should really start pushing for some kind of performance bond. I'm sure I speak for most of us when I say that we all appreciate the years that Kraft helped bankroll Major League Soccer and get it through its very dire nadir. However, if he's not prepared to do what it takes to put a competitive team on the field, he ought to look for buyers that are willing and able to do so. Owners like him and Kroenke are the strongest argument for pro/rel because their presence prohibits a more engaged ownership group from putting an alternative team in their town. I generally like the current set-up of MLS but if you have the privilege of running a team, you have an obligation to maximize its potential.
Barroldinho, a well reasoned post. But, to save time in case you were seeking out a dialogue with the Kraft operation, let me tell you what the response from Burns' FO would be: "Bite me, loser. But, hey, he's a picture of Brady...because we care". It's been the response for at least 10 years, and it won't change now.
Multiple outlets reporting that the Crew has been saved. Looks like the Cleveland Browns owner bought the team. Official announcement coming soon. I am super happy about this, successful teams should not be moved to new cities, especially with the amount of expansion in this league. #savethecrew
My moral, justice-appreciating self is thrilled about this news while my greedy may-end-up-retiring-in-Austin-self just went “well that sucks.” Edit: Never mind. Cognitive dissonance reduced- just read that Precourt (ugggh..) is going ahead with plans for an Austin MLS team (yay!) in 2021.
It looks like Precourt will get the rights to an expansion team in Austin. Your retirement will be fine (except Austin will be stuck with Anthony Precourt as owner).
Unfortunately for us NE is just about eliminated and might be for certain before playing rsl on Thursday. They may have no motivation. We could really use them denying RSL some points.
Yup, NE is done. Luckily, both our upcoming matches are against teams eliminated from the playoffs as well and MIN just lost to Colorado at home.
Time to do some scoreboard watching this week with Vancouver playing on Wednesday and RSL playing on Thursday. Don't know the status of Vancouver and SKC for Wednesday's game. On Thursday, NE is already eliminated, but RSL might be missing 5 of their front 6 (and really their 5 best field players) to start the game due to suspensions and international duty. Let's just hope NE can do us a favor (yet again).
Yep and RSL has to play their final 2 games this week and one of them is on the road. I can't see them not at minimum drawing at least one of these games.
Good thing for them that they get those 5 players back for the last game because they have to play it on 2 days rest. I just hope the Galaxy can handle their business because there might be an opening here if they can take it...
I'll pretend I didn't read Trickhog's post and give some more odds. First fivethirtyeight.com agrees with the sports books on the RSL-NER game. They have RSL 58% to win, 23% to draw and 20% to lose. Those percentages fit the betting odds very closely after you account for the sportsbooks vig. Second here is how the RSL-NER results will affect our chances, at least according to sportsclubstats.com: Right now we are 31% to make playoffs. If RSL wins our chances drop to 15%. If RSL ties our chances increase to 49%. If RSL loses our chances increase to 52%. So an RSL tie is almost as much help to us as an RSL loss. According to their simulations either of those outcomes makes us roughly a coinflip to be playing post-season. Also the outcome of the VAN - SKC game supposedly affects our chances to a smaller degree (+/- about 5%) but I'm just ignoring them. Because I can. Go Revolution!!!* * This good luck wish is good for one game only. Expires at midnight, 10/18/18.
Hoping for an SKC win tonight. Pretty much eliminates Vancouver and I want SKC to finish 2nd so we play LAFC in the knockout round.
I know there isn't a lot of love lost on this board for DCU but since this is the "other teams" thread... Great free-kick from Rooney. Goalie was slow to react but still... Didn't know he still had that kind of power. https://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/m...-dc-united-vs-toronto-fc/details/video/176087 It's amazing how he has completely turned DCU around. They were 3-9-5 in their first 17 games. Since Rooney played his first 90min game in late July they've gone 10-2-3. Hamid also gets a lot of credit - his amazingly athletic saves have given the team extra lives in several close games.
