Agree that being 32 yo shouldn't be a rule out but I've read that Schweinsteiger has had a few injuries over the last 2 or 3 years. Not surgery requiring injuries, but bad enough to keep him from playing or training for long stretches. That can make all the difference in the world - some players - especially 30 yo+ - never fully recover from chronic foot, ankle, or foot injuries. I'm guessing that Schweinsteiger is available because he is somewhat damaged goods.
He hasnt really suffered from major injuries since his last season at Bayern. Actually because of Mourihno banishing him he is coming to the league fresh. Mourihno never gave him a shot and has been pressing him out since he joined Man U. Its not damaged goods. He may not have been a starter but he certainly could have been used. Especially in a midfield thats taken quite some time to find itself. Mkhitaryan was a never player Mour was not using and look at him now. The Special One does this. I am saying, give him a chance. He is a decorated player still only 32, who has had some rest and is joining a midfield with two players that will be able to help his deficiencies

Also been condemned by his last three managers for not keeping himself in shape. Mkhitaryan is an excellent player. He was phenomenal at Dortmund and we're only just starting to see the best of him at United.
And yet, somewhere in the middle of all of those injuries, he was one of the best players on a team that won the World Cup. He'll be good for Chicago. Not directed at you Skydog, but this guy has thrived on doubt his entire career.
All the major (>1 mo) injuries on that list except one occurred after the 2014 WC. Particularly worrisome would be the 2016 "ruptured knee ligament" which sidelined him 45 days. According the the record he comes back on Mar 7 and then on Mar 24 he injures another knee ligament and is sidelined an additional 67 days. So out injured 123 days last season from those 2 knee injuries alone. I'm sure Chicago had their docs check him out so maybe you're right and maybe he'll be great. I hope that is the case for the sake of the league and the long suffering Chicago fans. But I'm just saying his recent injury history -plus comments I've seen in articles -- suggest he may have more problems than just being 32 yo. Here is the same injury list but with injuries < 1 mo removed: Medial collateral ligament injury Mar 24, 2016 May 30, 2016 67 days Ruptured intraarticular ligament knee Jan 11, 2016 Mar 7, 2016 56 days Patella problems Aug 11, 2014 Nov 17, 2014 98 days World Cup: June 12-July 13, 2014 Ankle injury Nov 7, 2013 Jan 9, 2014 63 days

Not MLS-related but didn't want to create a new thread about this post, but still commie ball news. So there's a group that wants to bid for an expansion NASL team in SoCal and they have a tentative agreement to play at Titan Stadium. The group is hoping to get the bid in preparation for Spring 2018. If Titan Stadium didn't work out for the LA (OC) Blues, not sure if it'll work out for new club. I think it's cursed ever since the LA Salsa & the APSL folded. Source: http://midfieldpress.com/2017/02/23/exclusive-orange-county-group-closes-in-on-nasl-expansion/
And sadly the same thing happens again and again in the south end GA seats. If the LAG really wanted to stop this, there would be a few pointed ejections from the stadium - I don't think it would take too long for the chanters to get the message. However, I am afraid that the team just pays lip service to "don't cross the line" but doesn't have the guts to actually live up to that standard.
WTF is going on with Minnesota's defense? 18 goals conceded in 4 games. Chivas set a record for most goals conceded in a season, and Minnesota are already 1/4 of the way to that record, with only 4 games played... They have only played 1 home game but come on.
Old news but have you guys seen this beautiful goal of the week from Atlanta's Josef Martinez? Abysmal defense, but still quite cheeky: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017...-josef-martinez-wins-att-mls-goal-week-week-3
4 -1 final. Poor Mike Petke. I wonder if he had any idea what a dumpster fire he was inheriting. Rimando and the seven dwarfs.
Anyone know how to watch the FC Dallas CCL game on Tuesday? I'll watch Vancouver too until they lose, but the FCD game I have hope (that I'm sure will be crushed). Is it on Univision? It's not on Fox2go. Kinda dumb - it's the semifinals, FCD has a (slim) lead, and I can't figure out how to watch the game.
